This is the third time this year that I've had to bring my dog in for an issue at all three times my experience was horrible. The staff is not properly trained with handling customers, setting correct expectations, scheduling properly, and providing a good overall experience.

I was told to bring my dog in at 8:15 AM this morning and the maximum time that she would be there would be up to four hours. 5 1/2 hours later they still haven't even looked at her and she had been kept in a cage from the entire time. I was given an 8:30 AM appointment to check her for allergies and Ear infection. I had no idea that I was bringing her in just to sit in a cage for 5 1/2 hours.

When I finally got the call from the vet, she had not even appropriately diagnosed what was wrong. She used words like "I think it might be" but I'm not sure ...all she wanted to do was estimate that it would cost me over $130 for her to do some testing. I pay a monthly fee for a well care program yet this is the third time this year I brought my dog in for the same issue.

The service is not about helping your animal;it's about making money.

The vet was inept at her job... And never even got a call back after I agreed to pay the fee for her to look at my dogs here and do a culture.

This is the last time I will send my dogs to this place. it is run by inexperienced people.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.

Banfield Pet Hospital Cons: Fees and lack of concern for pet.

Location: Largo, Florida

Vets don't have a crystal ball and animals can't talk.

So of course testing would be needed to figure out the underlying cause of the problem. Obviously you declined testing before, or those previous tests didn't show anything, if you are having to come back for the same problem.

If it's for ears, then they run an ear swab each time.

Doesn't matter what kind of infection it was last time, it may be different this time. There's no 1 medication to treat all infections.

If your pet is having constant allergies, the ONLY way to know what's causing them is having an allergy test done.

Constantly medicating without testing is just putting a bandaid on the issue. You aren't finding the underlying cause.

I am so sick of people expecting vets to automatically know what's wrong with their pet.

Again, pets can't talk and vets aren't psychic. Testing is the only way to figure out the problem. Her saying "I think" actually makes her a GOOD, HONEST vet. Because as I said, there's no way to know for sure without testing.

So any vet who tells you what's wrong with your pet without testing, is not a good vet. Would you rather her not do testing and misdiagnose? Didn't think so. No, I don't work at Banfield.

I did for 6yrs, but not anymore. My doctors were amazing As for your pet being there for so long. You had an 8:30 am appt to DROP off. Yes, usually they are not there longer than 4hrs.

However, it's usually only 1 doctor on staff and they do surgery in the morning (3-4 sx if not more) then they have all the other drop offs and in room appts. Surgery may have taken longer than usual, they may have had really sick pets walk in, an emergency, they may have had staff call out sick etc. The pets don't just sit there. They are taken out multiple times, they have a blanket/towel, water and if it's not crazy they are taken out to use the restroom.

They may over book a little , but that's because when people call in (multiple times a day) with their extremely sick pet, they want to get them in to be seen. Others get mad because a sick pet is seen before theirs and then there's people who get mad because when you try to tell them you are booked, overbooked already and refer them to another location or emergency, they get pissed off and complain. Vet offices (this happens at private practices too) can never do anything right according to some people. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

They should have communicated that with you, I'm not arguing that. But you were not there and you have no idea how crazy it was and what was going on at the clinic. Your pet wasn't the only one there needing to be seen. Lastly.

You have a WELLNESS plan, NOT insurance. It covered your office visit and you got a discount on everything not included.

The wellness plan booklet tells you everything that is covered. Idk about other banfields, but when I was at my clinic I went over everything that was covered and told every single person "Testing and medications for illnesses are not covered, but you automatically get a discount"
