Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan
Brought in my 15 year old cat for a physical and was surprised at the high cost of testing. One visit was over $300.00 for just blood and urine tests. They then call me back in just a few days and state that another $200.00 was needed for more tests and that if I...

ALWAYS ask exactly what they need to do and if it's necessary and how much it is. Then decide if its really needed.

Lots of Vets do unnecessary tests because they can get away with it. I would find another Vet like you did, when you travel just bring your dogs paperwork in a file if you're worried about anything happening while you're away from home. Of course they can always telephone your Vet and there is faxing. Costs go up and down depending on what part of the country you live in.

I'm in NY but in a borough, if I lived in the city a visit would cost me an arm and a leg. Insurance is great but you have to pay up front and wait for reimbursement. I always ask around about Vets and check online. You can usually find a tremendous amount of info that way and if you don't like the feel of a place don't go back.

Also ask if your dog has to stay overnight if there is anyone there at night to watch the animals.

MOST places, except most animal hospitals (I say most because there are some hospitals that don't have anyone believe it or not) if no one is there take the dog home and ask what you should watch for or take them else where. Some animals that die overnight wouldn't have if a nurse or doctor was there.

It has taken me years to find a good vet at Banfield going from one to another because they are all over and its easy to transfer my wellness plan. Two years ago I finally found the best vet. Dr. Tracy at the Naperville Il location. Went in for a visit the other day...

This is how most companies work these days. They don't give recognition when deserved and employees are used until they are discarded like garbage.

It's so sad what companies stand for these days. They supposedly 'care' so much about the customer, but they don't care about their own employees.

I'm disturbed to hear this, but it does not shock me. It's the corporate model.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts - Don't sign up for the wellness plan

I moved and did not renew my pets wellness plan. Banfield claims I owe over $300 because I didn't tell them not to renew my pet policy. I moved and never used their service, never got a call for them and I told the people at the banfield location that I was not renewing. According to Banfield I have to buy out the rest of my plan. Paying for something I never used seems like a rip off. I was never notified until months after they renewed my policy that it was still in effect. The reason why the called... they needed my permission to charge my credit card. I have a second pet and his banfield wellness monthly payment was being deducted from my credit card just fine. The only reason why they need permission to charge my credit card for my first pet is because I never signed her up for a second year. My account was fully paid at the end of my year- pet's wellness plan. $300 as a penalty for not making a phone call in addition to telling the person at Banfield we were not re-enrolling? That's a scam.

Buttermilk – If you haven’t done so already, please call our Wellness Plan Relations Team so we can gather more information and look into this further for you. The number is 866-649-2716.

To clear up any confusion, you are able to cancel your plan at any time. Please remember our wellness plans are discounted preventive services packaged together with the convenience of a 12-month financing option.

To cancel you either have to pay for the services you’ve already used from the wellness plan, or the remaining wellness plan payments, whichever is less. Please know that you would only be paying for veterinary services your pet has already received.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Lake In The Hills, Illinois - Banfield's wellness plans are Bad News

had belonged to a wellness plan for my German Shorthair Arthur for 8 months at the location in Algonquin, IL. Arthur was getting older and needing more care. My Beef with Banfield is that their Vet had left the Algonquin location .They had no vet for 4 months. So I'm still paying monthly for their wellness plan and the day comes when I have to have Arthur put to sleep. They told me to call the Crystal Lake Location. I tried but they were too busy with their own customers and the other customers like me from the algonquin store. Here my boy is crying out in pain saying the time has come to do the right thing for him and I can't get an appointment at any of the many locations I called to. Why do I have this wellness plan again? I finally found a vet in Richmond, IL ( DR. Pat) who helped me put Arthur to rest. I want a refund for the last 4 months that I was paying for when there was no vet in Algonquin. I would not reccomend Banfield Pet Hospital's Wellness Plans because there is no backup vet available to you if their vet leaves at your pet hospital location, They tell you to call another location but try to get an appointment!

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia - BANDFIELD ARE INSENSTIVE

I have had several wellness plans through Banfield for some cats I previously owned, and they worked well, as long as your animals stays alive. My very first dog passed away shortly after I adopted him. I had just signed up for the Optimum Wellness PLan through Banfield and they mantain that I have to pay the entire years worth of monthly fees. How insensitive is that! When I called customer service to try to work things out they were even worse and told me that I just "didn't understand" their contract. I just adopted a new dog and asked them if they would transfer the plan to cover her and they said NO, the plan is non transferable. THEY ARE THIEFS!

I'm very sorry about the loss of your pet. I know how horrible an experience that is. That doesn't mean that Banfield is stealing from you. The contract advises that it is for one year, that the plan is non-transferable to another pet or owner. I am a tech at a Banfield, and I always let my clients know about these things up front. As with a credit card or any other contract, it is important to read it and ask questions if you are not sure of something before signing it.

Everyone I work with does their jobs with love and care for you and your pets. I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience, but hope that you will keep in mind that most of the people who get into this field do so because they want to see pets get the best quality care possible.

I hope that everything turns out okay for you.

First of all we want to say how sorry we are for the loss of your dog. Please remember our Wellness Plans are preventive services pets need throughout the year, packaged together at a highly discounted price and with the convenience of a 12-month financing option.

Wellness Plans can be cancelled at any time, we simply ask that the client pay for the services already used at full retail cost, or the remainder of the monthly payments, whichever is less.

In other words, customers who do cancel are not asked to pay for services that they do not use. Please call our Wellness Plan Team at 88-649-2716 if you have any questions.

I agree with Incognito. I worked at a banfield and it was amazing.

Just because the people at one banfield are rude doesnt mean the rest are.

If you address the owners im sure they would take care of the situation... you cant just post it online and expect something to change.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Keller, Texas - First Shield hurt my cat and Banfield vet don't care

I bought First Shield topical flea medicine for my cat at Banfield and ended up taking her to the emergency vet that night. She was running around, meowing loudly and panting like a dog. I looked at the tube of medicine to tell the vet what I had put on her and saw that they had given me the wrong dosage. I had asked for the 0-8 lbs. kind because my cat is a small cat, and the employee @ Banfield gave me the tube for cats 9 lbs and over. When I talked with the Banfield vet the next day, she insisted that dispite her employee giving me the wrong thing, this would have happened anyway because my cat is just probably that sensitive. Not only did this vet NOT CARE that the WRONG DOSAGE of medicine was dispensed, she even said IT WASN'T THE MEDICINE'S FAULT for effecting my cat in such a way that I had to take her to the emergency vet. I asked her to reimburse my emergency vet bill, and she said due to corporate policy she could not do that... they refunded the purchase price of the First Shield and gave me a coupon to come back from a free office visit instead. Yeah right!

Banfield Pet Hospital in San Antonio, Texas - Banfield

I honestly do not know why so many people are complaining about banfield's wellness plans. They tell you when you sign up for them that it is a legally binding agreement good for one year from the day of enrollment. No matter what happens to your pet you still have to pay, and yes you do have to pay for the services you used if you decide not to keep the plan. The lady earlier said they told her she had to pay for two years even though she did not have the dog anymore that is a lie, because the plan is only good for one year. It is up to you if you want to renew for another year.

The Wellness Plans actually automatically renew after the year. You have 30 days prior to the renewal to cancel the plan. Also, I think many of the problems with these plans are the fact that most Banfield employees don't explain how they work and simply pressure customers to sign up.
