I don't understand why you waited to have your dog seen for DAYS after going to Banfield. You probably would not have had to go to an emergency 24 hr vet had you been more responsible.

Don't whine and complain about the costs...

you are the one who took your dog to a 24 hour vet after waiting WAY too long. It cost a lot more than it would have had you been thinking about your dog and not your wallet.

I took my dog to get her shots and was offered a wellness plan. This was explained to me, my fiancee, and elderly father as a one time fee around seventy dollars that would give us a lower price on annual shots, spay, and other routine care. It could be renewed...

Sorry this is so lengthy, please read. I put our Gus on the senior wellness plan at Banfield in Canton, Ohio.

Major mistake. Whole banfield system is worthless, unqualified and the optimum wellness plan is a scam too. My standard size daschund 14yrs old, diabetic and insulin dependent, and for those you who don't know vets will insist on a "Blood Glucose Curve", where the pet is kept all day and their blood sugar is checked every 2hours $125. Been there, done this w/ other vet.

Banfield insisted on 2 curves totaling $250 added to his wellness plan. I checked his readings for 2yrs poking his upper lip. Had this down to a routine and recorded his numbers. When I refused the manager/vet informed me they wouldn't treat him anymore.

Told them to "Kiss Off", Gus is 14yrs old and very sick and blind not putting him through trauma. His readings were out of control yes, curve doesn't fix this. Very difficult to control his glucose readings. My experience with vets it's not about controlling his blood sugar levels, its more about charging me for curves.

These vets thought I was ***. Pets with diabetes requiring insulin is a racket at most vets offices including Banfield. because it's about chging u for the curves and not teaching someone how to control levels. They don't care about normal readings.

Is this what graduates from these prestigious vet schools now? I found an older vet who understood my needs and taught me how to control gus's glucose readings to normal without the curves. Comparing my readings to his and thy were in sync. These levels have to be checked at home daily not just 2days at vets office $250 later.

This older vet helped me keep Gus more comfortable in his final days than any vet in 2yrs he had since diagnosed w/ diabetes. CONCLUSION: BANFIED'S WELLNESS PLAN IS A SCAM. STAY AWAY IF PET IS DIABETIC OR MAJOR ILLNESS. You may leave from visit not paying anything upfront, but you'll rack up more chgs for unnecessary procedures not needed.

If living in Canton, OH go to Dr. Hickman, Mellett Animal Hospital.

He will even draw u a diagram if needed. STAY AWAY FROM BANFIELD!!!

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Bellevue, Washington - Banfield SUCKS

I have so many stories to tell you why Banfield sucks, but that would be a waste of time. First of all, I don't know where they get their receptionists/secretaries from, but they surely do suck. Second, the doctors can't do any better than their receptionists! A few days ago, I had an appointment because I needed some paperwork to travel to France. It took THREE appointments (WASTE OF GAS) to finally get them!! AND... the doctors can't even read the files because THEY WROTE THAT MY PUPY HAD HIS RABIES VACCINES THE DAY IT WAS BORN!! I mean.. come oooooon! READ THE *** PAPERS!! So of course, I had not seen it, and I sent these papers over to the usda to have them stamped, but it was a waste of $20 because the papers were incorrect. Thank you Banfield :) To be honest, I have so many BAD stories to tell about Banfield... I REALLY dislike this pet hospital. When my puppy's wellness plan expires, I sincerely will switch hospital. I will go to the Alpine Vet Hospital just across the street.

Come on anon, get real. I work at a Banfield and I think a lot of complaints are c rap, but this one is legit.

I'd be mad too if they messed up my paperwork so many times. It's a hassle, waste of time, waste of money. Just because a person can afford to France doesn't mean they are cheap because they don't want to just throw away $20!!

How is the person's wallet more important than their dog? The person went through all the trouble to get the health certificate for their dog, why would you make such an accusation?

Wow, you're cheap. You're going to complain about wasting gas and $20, yet you have money to go to FRANCE? Sounds like your wallet is more important than your dog.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan

Banfield Pet Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas - Banfield...Worst Vets...Deadly For Pets!!!!!!!!

The vet insisted that we give our 10 lb poodle that is never left alone outside the Leptospirosis vaccine. WHY? This shot has serious side affects. Our dog went into shock and had a seizure. Banfield vets are high pressure sales people. My dog is old and that put him at risk to have a seizure. There was no need for him to have this as it is rare that any dogs except those that live in the woods which he doesn't. I have an attorney and are currently suing them. I contacted the USDA and they are tying to get this unregulated med off the market as its killing animals. I also contacted PETA which is trying to get Banfield and Pet Smart shut down. Do not take your pets there if you care about them as they are all about the money. This shot causes long term health issues like cancer and autoimmune diseases and about 20 other deadly illness to keep you coming back for health care. worst experience with a vet ever! Very unprofessional and uncaring. They kill animals.

Exactly right Sigh! It is amazing how many people say they are suing Banfield yet I never hear anything about these lawsuits.

Hopefully your attorney is smart enough to know that all the "facts" on the Internet not supported by scientific research and having proper citations aren't credible and tells you that you won't win.

I am sorry your dog had a vaccine reaction.

I am sorry your dog had a vaccine reaction and hope he is feeling better. The decision about which vaccinations your pet should receive is between you and your veterinarian.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, one that can cause serious disease in both pets and people. It is normally spread through contact with contaminated water or rodent urine. Infected pets may show no symptoms of serious disease, including liver and/or kidney failure. Some dogs with leptospirosis may not survive.

It is important to understand that vaccine reactions are the result of a pet’s individual sensitivity to the vaccine and not because the vaccination itself is dangerous.

We are unaware of and could find no evidence or documentation that the USDA has any plans to change the status of the vaccine. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please contact our Client Advocate Team at 877-500-2288.

This is what happens when people with no training in the field of veterinary medicine do "research" on the internet. In both clinical trials (and my personal experience), reaction rates to the leptospirosis vaccine are less than 1%. In addition, full blown anaphylaxis is extremely rare. I've been in the field for a long time, see hundreds of pets vaccinated a year for lepto, and have only seen one case of anaphylaxis that was definitely due to the lepto vaccine. It's not the vet's fault your dog had AN ALLERGIC REACTION to the vaccine. Lets put it this way: if I ate a snickers bar and my tongue swelled up, would I blame the candy manufacturer? No. I have a peanut reaction, which is no one's fault. It's an ALLERGIC REACTION!

Some facts on lepto:

1. Leptospirosis is a bacteria, spread by infected urine of other mammals. Even if your dog doesn't live in the woods, he could still contract it if an infected animal took a *** on his walk route.

2. It is a zoonotic disease (which is another reason you should vaccinate your pet).

3. It is the leading cause of kidney failure in dogs.

Good luck with that lawsuit.

well i see we have somewhat a different view on banfield wellness plan--first i will say there is one vet there that does seem to care about the pets--the others just push you through as fast as then can--they tell you when you sign how great it is--well i've used mine a few times and they always spend more time trying to upsale my plan than looking at my pet--and seems like they always tell me i need something else extra but i do get my 10% discount because i'm a member--lol--thats a joke--my plan will expire in a few months and i will not renew it -- i am going as far to start canceling it now so they cant do the auto renew because i know they bill a month in advance so that will give them 2 months to get it right--now i will say it wasnt a bad experence but for what i paid i could get the same thing done at a regular vet also--i just dont like the commitment of 12 months and paying each month. but i agreed to that so i will honor my agreement

As an attorney myself, I am concerned that you did not read the contract, which clearly states the terms and conditions. I also have the wellness plan, my pet is treated at the Brentwood location, and I couldn't be happier with their services. I am sorry for what you have gone through, but caveat emptor, right?

Banfield Pet Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada - I paid for my dog to get spayed an she still go into heat!

I payed Ban field pet hospital to spay my dog. Six months later my dog went into heat. They refused to reimburse my money an would not pay a new vet to fix my dog.The Dr. no longer work there an I wouldn't want them to try to fix her again. I now have ban field on my credit report as an unpaid collection which is very unfair especially when the job was not done correctly.I payed a new vet to fix her an feel they should not only send me to collections but pay my new vet bill.

Complain on Banfield Facebook... you tend to get somewhere by doing that.

As a former employee I have seen this happen before and we fixed it for free. They would probably reinburse you, but not pay to get it fixed.
