Banfield Pet Hospital in Herndon, Virginia - Wrong meds.............

I took my Standard Poodle to this place. Which was a BIG Mistake. If you love you pets please don't take them there. Look for a good VET. They checked my dog out and said he had an anal gland infections. So they give me meds for his intestines not for the infection of anal glands. Go figure.. Took him to a real vet after that and the vet found out that he had enlarged prostate with infected anal glands. The meds they gave me was not the right one to treat the infection. After a week gone by he was still bleeding from the rectom area. That's when I visted another Vet. New vet gave meds to treat prostate as well as anal glands. It has been two weeks now and I visted the doctor a real vet doctor on Saturday and he is coming along just fine. Banfield wanted to do anal gland surgery which you don't want to do. They are only out for the money. So please don't take your pet to this place seek a good vet that will give the right stuff.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Richmond, Virginia - Poor, poor care

My sons dog was in a fight and got 2 lacerations that needed stitches. The Banfield Vet wanted $1300.00 to repair the 2 lacerations from the ***. We took the dog out and took her to out vet when he opened that afternoon. It costs us $117.00 at our vet to suture them. I also had to pay $94.00 to Banfield to have the Vet tell me all this malpractice stuff--giving the anesthesia when it was not necessary to a 12 year old dog and telling me the 1 wound was very deep when it was not. $1300.00 vs $150.00!!! Unbelievable! JULIA GERHEART July 11, 2011--incident occurred

I understand your concern about cost. Please be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Some animal hospitals use injectable anesthesia or even no anesthesia.

Some hospitals do not monitor with a nurse while doc is operating or use heart monitors or blood pressure monitors. This can be much cheaper, but perhaps not as safe.

I am a vet that worked for Banfield right out of school. At first I thought it was a good company and we were helping animals. Now I have seen the light and know what is going on. Banfield severely overbooks and understaffs their clinics. There were days I would see...

You should file a complaint with your State Board of Veterinary Medicine. They will look into the botched enucleation.

Banfield is sub-par to a REAL veterinary clinic. First and last time I will take me dog there!! Basically it's all about trying to sell what I call their pet wellness program which is the biggest crock of sh_ _ I've come across in a long time. The staff...

Prices are standardized across Banfields - there is no WAY a full panel costs $609. You are mistaken.

A full panel includes 1) complete blood count 2) differential exam of blood cells and 3) internal organ function and 4) sometimes electrolytes. All this is under $200.

The reason why they won't prescribe thyroid medication before a full panel is because they have to assure that your pet is healthy enough to receive it and that there aren't any complicating factors. It's actually common protocol and if you find a vet that will do it without a full panel, you should be worried.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Jonesboro, Georgia - Can't make everyone happy!!!!!!!!!!

Really!!! you people want to come in and pay $24.99 a month $300.00 a year and have your pets spayed or neutered, all vaccines, unlimited office visits, a couple dewormings, fecal exams, hw testing, earswab, lab work. BE real wish there was a human clinic who offered this type of deal. By the way when u go to the clinic do they give you your medication or a precription after your exam? And remeber you recieve the services before hand so if you cancel your plan you are still responsible for the cost. I know the employees are not always smiling but they are so overworked and under paid I truely feel for them.

Yes i know they are a sacam i had it and wether i used it or not i had to pay and even if i didnt have my dog any more i still had to pay. They dnt cover thir medication and the giv u med tht ur dog dnt even need or tht u could get somewhere els for cheap and thy try to scam you by telling you only lies, if you take your dog for a check up.

like i took my femail dog to banfield because i sow two lil bumps by where where stomach is and i didnt kw it was cuz she was in heat.. well the nice nurse told me bt u kw what the doctor told me ? TAHT MY DOG HAVEd CANCER!!!! GRRR tht she had to have blood taken, do xray, and all this other EXPENSIVE *** things tht my dog DIDNOT NEED.

the vet told me if i didnt do all tht she was going to die . they are a joke. every time i took her they tied to sell me all this things and tryed to do all this test just for a regular check up. they are rediculouse and hella expensive just go to your local vet or search for low cost vactines and vets.

besides they all do the samething.. be ware pet owners!

No offense to you PISSED CONSUMERS below lol, but to be honest it just sounds like you don't understand how the OWP works and the fact that it is not insurance/coverage. You get a set amount of services in each plan, preventive care for the most part.

What they do is break down the cost of those services over the course of 12 months. It is a payment plan that's all it is requires no additional thought to comprehend. So if your pet dies or you move or for any reason need to get off the plan you can do that at anytime after you pay for the services you have used within the year. Now if you've used nothing, good for you, you can literally just call them and cancel it whenever.

If you used services during your current year and want to cancel then more than likely you will still have to pay for the remainder of the services YOU HAVE ALREADY USED. (see how i put it in caps in case anyone cant read/understand) If you just call them and your bonehead answer is "uuuuughh well duh my pets dead why shud i hab 2 pay? durrr" and you have indeed used services you will have to pay. If your plan just started/renewed and you took your pet in had a bunch of stuff done and wanted to quit one month later you would still have to pay what you used.

Otherwise it's as if you got $100+ worth of services for only 24.95. I do think Banfield can increase education on the Wellness Plans i do agree it is shady because they don't explain everything up front. To be frank though, the contract is just 1 page long, ONE PAGE!! Assuming we all took English in school it is very easy to comprehend not a difficult contract at all.

Take responsibility clear your old debts the collection team is always willing to try to work with you. Either that or find a corner to cry in.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas - Quacks!

We took our kitten, 6 wks. old to this "vet" because he was clearly ill. The vet diagnosed him with a sinus infection and was prescribed an antibiotic. She also gave us a de-wormer. We walked out $100.00 poorer with a follow up visit scheduled in a week and got our kitten home to nurse him back to health...he died 2 days later. When I was called to confirm our *** I told the girl that he died and she had the nerve to ask if there'd been any improvement?! I am normally a very passive consumer but when she asked me this, I yelled...HE DIED!! In my opinion, these people are quacks and if you care anything about your pets, I would NOT take them to Banfield!

It would be very hard to be that ***. Then again, we are talking about a young (18?) female receptionist...

Im so sorry your kitten didn't make it.
