I am disgusted with all the negative reviews on this site. I have reviewed a lot of them, and some of them stem from poor customer service on Banfield's part. The vast majority of the complaints, however, are made by ignorant people with no training in veterinary...

"Banfield in San Marcos has two doctors. One is a nice lady and one is Dr.

H. I see both of them, determined by who is there which day. Dr H has pressured, guilted, persuaded, and recommended me out of every dollar he possibly could. When Rocky coughed once during an exam, he diagnosed him with an upper respiratory infection, which he would "die from" if I didn't buy the 60$ medication.

When Rocky had diarrhea for two days from SWITCHING FOODS (I didn't know at the time that switching food caused it), Dr H said he had coxidia and ghiardia and had us on medication for each of those for THREE months, and charged us to continue doing fecal tests and ghiardia tests "just incase" up to three months later. He had my dog under anesthesia for over TWO hours during a neuter surgery, only to discover my dog never had balls in the first place and had a freaking scar from being neutered before!!

He hadn't even examined my dog before cutting him! I could go on all day, but I hope you get the picture."

Banfield Pet Hospital in Denver, Colorado - To Banfield Negligent means they didn't cause

I took my puppy into a Banfield less than a week from me having her. She was almost 7 months at the time. Their Vet and Techs were so busy selling unnecessary products, treatments and plans that they did not diagnose a heart murmur. I find this out from another Vet later when I take her to get fixed. I even ran her back to Banfield as they had sucked me into a "wellness plan". This Vet say, oh yes there is a murmur but makes excuses as to why it was missed. Later I find out that the issue my dog had should have easily been picked up by 3 months. If picked up this first visit I would have had options with this dog but after a clean bill of health from them and 2 months attachment my options were taken away by Banfield. Now thousands of dollars later Banfield states that they were not Negligent as they didn't cause the murmur. I questioned this of their facebook site and they deleted me! My attorney is pissed that I am going viral with this at this point. Yes, they are responsible for the cost I have incurred but I am going to be heard as well.

its uncommon for anesthesia and a procedure to induce a murmur (abnormal hear sounds). Anesthesia can induce an arrythmia (abnormal heart rythm).

More likely the pet had a murmur that wasn't heard on the pre-anesthesia PE, or a pre-anesthesia PE was not done by a veterinarian (possibly just the vet tech?).

Usually, a pet with a murmur in the scenario described above does just fine...

Please do your research before publicly denouncing a veterinarian's skills. Heart murmurs can develop over time, puppies are not necessarily born with them.

Additionally, murmurs can come and go throughout a lifetime. Either of those reasons can explain why it was not diagnosed upon your first visit.

Ok where do i start, first i will tell you that when you take your pet to Banfield you are doing so at your own risk! When they're so called vets examine your pet they hardly touch the animal and instead ask you random questions while searching for the answer on a...

Heart murmurs are not always detected right away and they can appear at any age. Whatever vet told you that it should have been detected by 3 mos was full of ***.

A dog or cat can go 6 years or whatever without even developing a murmur... fyi

I took my dog in Sat., 5/28/11 because my vet was closed for the holiday. I wouldn't have been able to get her in until Tues. I didn't think her problem could wait until then. She was rubbing and scratching her right ear. The vet at Banfield said she had a...

YOU are responsible to be sure you put the appropriate medication on your cat or dog,not the vet tech or vet. What were you thinking?Next time, have the vet or tech apply the topical flea treatment,so you do not make a mistake that can sicken your beloved animal.

I brought my dear freind of 12 years to Banfield Pet Hospital in Tukwila, Washington. I brought her in because she had sniffles and constipation. Before anything happened I was given an "estimate" I had to sign before my friend was seen by a vet. I did so and gave my...

@ Banfield Pet Hospital rep:

"Without understanding of the medical condition of your pet" That said it right there. They treated an animal with no understanding of her medical condition.

That was the whole point.

I agree with 12. Somehow Banfields everywhere need to be shut down.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Palatine, Illinois - It's like going to a car dealer

DO NOT go to Banfield Pet Hospital in Kildeer, IL. Everytime I have been there they try to add on a bunch of unneccessary things that your pet does not need to ring up the bill. Plus, the old man so called veterinarian is extremely uneducated about the animals needs & is rude when you don't agree with him. He actually gives me the heebeejeebees. He looks like a ***. Spend the extra $20 for an office visit and go to a real vet who knows what they are doing. I will NEVER recommend anyone to bring their animals here.

Were the added items nail trims, anal gland expression, shampoo, dog dental chews, and a bright green nasty water additive perhaps?

Banfield Pet Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas - Banfield Animal Clinic

Banfield Animal Clinic/Petsmart at Heritage Trace & I-35W in North Fort Worth, Texas. Attempt to fraud: male vet Dr. Lewis said my cat's lacerated ear needed $500+ worth of surgery that included sutures, a drain, and two weeks in-house recoup. Cried for days, not knowing if I could afford $$, plus this cat could NEVER spend two weeks inside. Was considering taking him to SPCA or N. Tx Humane society. Other vet said healing on its own, they cleaned his wound nicely and offered 1/2 price neuter because of his "stray" status. Besides fraud, the emotional distress I had to deal with was off the charts. Will be contacting Banfield headquarters, for what it's worth. Get vet referrals from friends and co-workers.

the shot does not give parvo but it can take 7-10 for signs of parvo to show and once it does it can get bad fast. the vets would have had no way of knowing if your pet was positive or not and your pet does not have to be around another animal it can live the ground for up to 7 years and if you went to park or on walk a dog that was positive could have been there all ready.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Columbus, Ohio - Bored

For you people with comments....you have nothing better to do but put your two cents in...get a life! If someone post a legitimate complaint and it has nothing to do with you then close your trap. It didn't happen to your dog! Get off your couch and get a real life! It's not surprizing to hear people make comments to other peoples experiences, especially when they didn't go through the *** that day! I dont want to see other people go through the same living nightmare I did. There's enough going on here at all the Banfeild Hospitals!! Read the complaints from all the other people and there dealings with this place!

Our dog had an, lets say, abnormality. The vet said don't have surgery unless it becomes a nuisance. So 12 months go by, it is now a nuisance and surgery is needed. The vet we saw, different than the first one who said don't have the surgery, said that this should have...

I had a Cocker that had a lesion on his neck that had to be surgically removed. After his surgery he could never wear a collar again, because it would get yucky & sore.

It wasn't biopsied. I knew it was cancer, but as long as he was happy we let him live his life as a normal happy dog.

Two weeks ago at age 14 I had to put him to sleep as the cancer had spread & it was to the point his quality of life was poor & it was the best thing I could do for him. Hope your dog's leg heals quickly & doesn't require any more surgeries.
