I just wrote of my experience at Banfield Pet Hospital, San Juan Capistrano, CA. I forgot to add that, when the vet learned that I had owned the guinea pig for less than a month, and that he was under warranty, she just said, get a new pig for free. So according to...

An additional comment to Poster "LOL":

I happen to be disabled and can't handle anything bigger than a guinea pig. So this is my "dog," so to speak.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Mission Viejo, California - Banfield Sold Me Expensive Meds For Pet Who Died Same Day

I used to like Banfield, but no more. I took in a baby guinea pig suffering from a rectal prolapse. The doctor said it was very treatable and sold me $150 worth of meds and told me to bring him back in two weeks. He died the same day before I had even had a chance to give him any meds. When I called to tell them, they reacted with bored indifference to the death of my pet. I asked for a partial refund, and they said no. I told them I was disputing the credit card charge, and again they reacted with bored indifference.

Honestly, I am amazed at some of the trolls who come here just to laugh at people.

My overall opinion of the human race continues to go down.

Rectal prolapses in small exotic pets (such as a G.Pig) almost always carry a guarded prognosis. I have many years of experience treating exotic pets, and i can tell you first hand that very few of these little guys do well if the rectum/colon is fully prolapsed...

Today I had to euthanize my 13 1/2 year old cat. Yesterday, at Banfield they did bloodwork, thyroid testing, nauseau medicine, thyroid medicine and if all this did not help come back in 3 weeks and we will euthanize him. The cat was dehydrated and could not hold down...

dude, next time just do it. Cat's go downhill extremely fast.

he could have had a number of problems. I recently saw a cat that was positive for FIV and leukemia. it's a tough decision but sometimes it has to be done.

And banfield get your head out of your ***.

you guys care about money and that alone. you make the doctors pull up things where they know they should be euthanizing.

people keep that in mind next time you are perhaps there. the docs have to pull extra *** up because they are required to.

My 5-month-old GSD was on the Banfield "plan." Took him in 3/23/11 for a limp (after he had escaped and was missing for 12 hours) and he was diagnosed as having "pano" without X-rays or bloodwork. We were told by Susan Valashinas that it was unrelated to being out, if...

I find this highly unlikely and, even in the off chance that something was, sincerely, missed an issue, I find it moderately disturbing that anyone is trying to adversely affect an individual's career. Dr.

Valashinas has served as our family's veterinarian for years and we have had only positive experiences. From our cat's juvenile cataracts and early onset diabetes to our beagle's early and recurrent gastric issues, Dr.

Valashinas has always been clear, concise and accurate with her diagnosis. To assume or infer that a veterinarian intentionally mislead her patient is a sad accusation.

I have two 6 month old female Weimaraner pups who went to get spayed on March 26, 2011 at the Sawgrass, Florida Banfield Hospital. The following day my babies started getting white spots all over and shedding like crazy. I assumed it was a reaction of the anesthesia...

I do think the "Killer-A-Pet" header is a bit much since neither of your dogs died at the hands of the vet.

when is the last time you loaned a complete stranger $500.00?

Probably never. If you had, you likely would have never gotten it paid back. As unfortunate as it is, nobody owes you anything.

On 3/14/2011, approximately 7:30pm I took my dog to the Timber Drive, NC animal hospital as suggested. The young female doctor who attended him was very unprofessional. She immediately prepared a treatment plan for $180.00. Said that he needed 5 xrays, hydration and...

Today I had my last poor service from this clinic. (Signal Butte & Baseline) The folks who work there are totally clueless as to customer service.

As I waited out front, a woman stood right behind the glass window eating a sandwich and ignoring me. (This was about noon today.) I went to the front and asked a Petsmart employee if it was their lunch break and he said no, they were open. I asked him to call back there and tell them that there's a customer waiting and he said he couldn't do that, Banfield is a separate company and he didn't know the phone number. I headed back and knocked on the door just as the Petsmart manager came back and did the same.

That's when the man from the front came back and said they 'were doing a procedure' - how he knew that when he didn't have their phone number was beyond me - and what kind of procedure is eating a sandwich? This is not the first time I've had poor service at this location, but it was the last.

I'll not be using this Petsmart any longer, either. I do not recommend this location at all.

The so-called medical director's apathetic attitude is reflected in the lack of care people and their companions receive.
