Banfield Pet Hospital in Simpsonville, South Carolina - Banfield - What a scam!

I worked at PetSmart when I got my cat. Since I got a discount, I decided to try Banfield. They were right there and I could take him in convienently before work. The initial sign up fee was waved since I worked there but monthly we paid 22 bucks. Once a month they would ask me to bring my cat in for a check up...I don't even know WHY they have a membership fee because every time we went in, we walked out paying 60 bucks for his check up! Ontop of it, over the two years I was signed to it every time I would come in...they had a different diagnosis! First he is too heavy so they tell me to get this special 60 dollar diet cat food. My cat wouldn't even touch the ***. Next month I come in and am told he is losing weight too rapidly and needs to go on weight gain food! This time I refused to buy it because what a waste! It seemed like every time I went in there my cat was horribly sick and they talked to me like I was such a bad owner. First off, I love animals but I do not see why they have to see a vet 12 times a year...I DON'T EVEN SEE MY DOCTOR THAT MUCH! They told me *** like my cat needed their TEETH CLEANED! I don't understand why cats need their teeth cleaned...i've had plenty of animals in the past who didn't have special tooth brushes or dentists and they were perfectly fine. *** I had to even pay 70 bucks for that because they put him to sleep while they did the teeth cleaning and flossing! Well finally my contract was up and I went in the DAY it was up and said I wanted out. I was told that it was done. All of a sudden the next month I am billed 22 bucks again! I call them up and ask what the *** I am being billed for and that I took him off. They told me I most certainly did not and that I could not get out of the contract for another two years because they renewed it for me! Finally today I fought with them and got him taken off...but if you want what is best for your pet...go somewhere that ISN'T NUTTY!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida - Banfield hospital ripped me off overpriced pet drugs

I took my new adult bulldog in for worm meds. They tried to charge for fecal tests that where not needed. I had the worm with me and had reseached what type of worm it was before going .They wanted to do other procedures .They charged me 47.00 for two pills . I wish i had researched the hospital and the fact they totally overcharge for their meds. I could have gotten the same thing at Petmeds online for half what i paid for the meds alone plus saved a 50.00 office fee .You can bet i wont make the same mistake again. Plus after reading all the negative comments about banfield i wont be going back.

Any newly acquired pet needs a fecal exam. Just because you plopped the worm on the exam table doesn't mean it doesn't have other types of worms that cant be seen.

You also cant buy meds for your pets "worms" without having a fecal exam done. This is true at any vet's office.

When you buy prescription meds for your pets through a Vet, those meds have the MANUFACTURERS guarantee. Certain manufacturers won't even honor their guarantees if the medications are purchased through Petmeds because Petmeds isn't authorized to sell their products in the US.

Many times, you won't even get the little medication information sheet in English! Why? Because the medications that "save" people money aren't manufactured under the guise of the FDA in the U.S.

Why do you think Petmeds offers guarantees that are "as good as the manufacturer"? Because they aren't guaranteed by the manufacturer, that's why!

Who do you want guaranteeing the medications you're giving your pet?

An online pharmacy using swanky advertising to dupe pet owners into buying foreign versions of drugs not approved by the FDA? Or a licensed vet who sells the meds manufactured under the guise of the FDA in the U.S.?

Now who is ripping whom off?

Actually many of the worms looks alike, and in order for the doctor not to lose his license it is required of him to perform a fecal test to confirm the type of parasite. Many of the parasite medications target a single type of worm. If he relied on your research skills to prescribe medications you would be wasting more money thank you already THINK you have.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Houston, Texas - Banfield Pearland is Horrible!!!

Called for three days to get my pet in to see someone since we already pay insurance there and everytime we're given an excuse. We were told we couldn't come b/c its closing or its booked. Finally today, now that it is an absolute emergency I'm told that they will close in an hour...I can still come but they will have to refer me to a clinic that's open late...oh yeah and also about an hour away!!! ...horrible rip off. For three years we've paid $27 for coverage. I didn't realize it was coverage subject to their conveience.

Would you be mad at your doctor if this was your child? Forgive me if I don’t understand your complaint.

I tell as many people as possible about Banfield because they’ve been so awesome to my pets. I’ve been using them for the last 6 years and if I had known about them sooner my little Maltese Maddie would still be alive. I’m a single mom and they know I’m on a plan because it’s less money. I also ask if there’s a way to get my prescription for less cost.

They don’t have a problem with me using pet meds.com. I don’t pay for pet visits with my plan only prescriptions or labs. Other vets charge $50 to $75 for a visit. Please don’t discourage people from using Banfield if you can’t schedule an appointment for your pet like you would for yourself or your child.

There are emergency vet hospitals if there’s an emergency.

Maybe not Banfield but your doctor would refer you to an emergency hospital too. Be kind and forgiving, would you want you as a customer?

My dog kept crying in pain so I brought him here. The vet told me he was crying for attention.

I told them he never cries like that and I had him for 10 years already. Took him home and he kept crying so I took him back, they took an x/ray and didn't see anything so they told me it was flees. Even though I didn't see any flees and he was not scratching I was convinced to take home a 40$ flee medicine. My dog kept crying like he was in pain so I decided to take him to WestSide veterinary down the street and told them exactly what I had told the vet at this place.

I even showed them the x/ray they had taken. At WestSide vet right away they seen what the problem was. My dog had a bulging disk on his back!

People at this place obviously don't know how to read x-rays, and do a sorry job at trying to figure out what's wrong with your pet. This place should close down since they can't give right treatments.

Banfield Pet Hospital

Banfield Pet Hospital is not what I expected it to be when I signed a contract with them for my two Pugs. The hospital in Sunrise, Florida is disorganized and poorly managed. One can wait a minimum of one hour even if one has a scheduled appointment. Seldom is there more than one vet to look after the patients even when there are many waiting customers. My two Pugs were taken there for their shots, which were part of the plan for which they were registered, and, therefore, there was no expense. One of the vets gave each dog three shots instead of one or two at a time. I had to return to the hospital the next day to have the dogs treated for an allergic reaction, and the cost for the second visit was more than $70. I am disgusted with the manner in which both pet owners and pets are treated at Banfield.

Really? Please don’t discourage people from using Banfield because of something beyond any veterinarian’s control.

I tell as many people as possible about Banfield because they’ve been so awesome to my pets. I’ve been using them for the last 6 years and if I had known about them sooner my little Maltese Maddie would still be alive. I’m a single mom and they know I’m on a plan because it’s less money. Other vets charge $50 to $75 for a visit.

My pets have received awesome pet care even though my income is limited. Be kind and forgiving, would you want you as a customer?

Banfield is the Kaiser of pet health care, only Kaiser doesn't try to sell you something ridiculously priced at every turn. Its funny how I happen to have two breeds that are "susceptible" to injections and therefore are recommended to get the diphenhydramine shots.

Banfield must have some incredibly powerful scientific knowledge untapped by any other veterinarian on the planet, as no other real vet clinic has told me about this, nor have my two dogs ever experienced any kind of reaction from injections received at Banfield or VCA hospital.

I always expect and enjoy receiving the timely calls from Banfield while the dogs are in their care. It is now to the point of placing bets on how much they're going to recommend I spend on that day for things my dogs do not need and its always not a problem when I say that I do not have that kind of money (one call was for $300, another for $500, and so on).

My two dogs have been patients at Banfield in Sunrise for 10 years. One of my dogs had 3 surgeries in 1 year.

Yes, I often had to wait even though I had an appointment; however, it was worth the wait. I feel the wait is because the doctor spends time with you to complete a thorough check up and to spend the time to explain the outcome of the exam and options. My dogs received such great care. Dr.

Brenes is so compassionate and because of her and the Banfield insurance my dogs are healthy and still with me today. Banfield allows you to drop off the dogs in the morning and pick up later in the afternoon. Then you don't have to wait and can go about your day. Also, few doctors is a good thing.

You can guarantee your dogs will see the same doctor each time. I see that as a benefit.

Keep up the good work Banfield in Sunrise and thank you for taking such good care of my animals. :)

Pugs are a breed which have a tendency to react to vx more than other breeds. It would have been wise of you to receive the diphenhydramine injection before the vaccines.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Banfeild the Pet Hospital in Gainesville FL helped my puppy

Our 9 week old puppy got bitten on his nose by our big dog on a Thursday night. The next day it looked fine, and he acted OK, so we didn't take him to the vet. By Sunday it was very swollen and looked infected. I found that Banfield was open, though I hadn't used them before. I'd heard they were expensive in comparison and not empathetic, but found they were fantastic. They took us in with last minute notice on Sunday afternoon. We didn't wait at all. The Veterinarian and Technician were very helpful. It ended up costing much less than I expected and we are very happy with the service we received. I would recommend them to anyone.

:? I had an awful experience with Banfield. I took our brand new puppy there and purchased the Wellness Plan to have all her shots updated. Needless to say they immediately told me she had an eye infection, so I purchased medicine that was not included in the package and gave it to her, then brought her back the next day to see if it had gotten any better, the Banfield Doctor said it did and instructed me that everything else was fine and to just watch here eye. The next day my puppy died, banfield was the only doctors that had seen my puppy, when I rushed my her to the emergency when I found her not breathing, i was told that she had 4 bold clots(1 in her throat) that stopped her breathing.... How could Banfield not have told me that. Then to top it off that would not let me cancel my payment to start the Wellness package. The doctor was heartless, when I called back to tell her what had happen. I have not been able to get another dog yet, But when I d oI would never go back. They really trick you into paying the $25/month wellness package, but honestly my dog paid the ultimate price.

BANFIELD NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN> and FYI

I'm looking into purchasing a new puppy and they will not deal guarantee anything if you take your new pet to BANFIELD.. What does that tell you...

Sorry to all those out there that suffered at their cost.

Funny, I work at another small animal practice that is NOT Banfield and I have to call the owners before running up a bill and get permission BEFORE the treatment is done. And, they do NOT offer payment plans for people that have not been long term clients.

WHY? Because people DO NOT pay the bills. They just switch to another vet and give bogus addresses and disconnected phone numbers. Human doctors do not have to worry about this when the health insurance covers the bill.

Veterinarians do not have this luxury.

Just because people want to get paid for their services does not make them evil. You people seem to think that vets can live on nothing.
