They lie about the plan. I took a stray cat in to check him out and get shots so I could keep him and they tricked me into a plan saying what I needed that first visit would cost me $200 and EVERYTHING was covered under the plan which would cost me ONLY $262 a year.

Plan would also cover office visits and two more sets od shots and neutering. OK I went for it. They came up with some new "Well plan member fee/kitten Basica care fee" that was NOT covered and it was $70. HELLO they said EVERYTHING that visit was covered.

They never did explain right what it was since everything else was itemised including the tests, shots, visit and all, so what is this fee?

A sign up fee on top of the plan? So this plan so far has cost me $332 and I have had this cat for three days.

Banfield Pet Hospital#1438 Jax.Fl

over charges for poor service; I took my dog for a hot spot, and sever itching(he had fleas) was treated for dermatitis I think. When I paid my bill they didn't *** for the OV, Which I had a coupon for and refused to adjust my bill accordingly. I stopped payment on my check and took cash to the office only to be refused again. Now the check clearing company is asking for payment because they guaranteed the check..in dispute of charges. office manager was very helpful. Although not able to resolve the conflict. I will not Recommend

I just found this site today, and I am appolled at how bad the average person's writing ability is. Most of the posts written on here are the quality of fourth grade English.

Wow I didn't realize just how poor education is in this country till you see others try to express themselves clearly in writing and can not do so. This article is a perfect example.

I agree with the comment above, posted by lol, I have no idea why the woman is complaining. If he/she had at least some basic writing skills then he/she would be able to at least make it clear what his/her complaing was.

Thank you for this information. I will not consider Banfield as an option.

Dermatitis is basically an itchy skin disorder. You stated your dog had itchy skin. So your dog was treated for what you brought him in for...Hot spots/itchy skin.Other than that I don't understand your post.

My Standard Schnauzer had cancer at 8 years old and only had from 6mos. to a year to live and giving a rabies shot is unadvisable because it supresses the immune system. Shots of any kind are not advisable when a pet has cancer. The vet gave the shot at Banfield Clinic...

Amanda, wow. Again, another employee that needs a discussion with her field director.

I am appalled yet again. I am now seeing why people think banfield employees are rude. Just looking on this site, there are many that need a good lesson in Client handling. And I suggest to you, to go get your DVM behind your name before spouting off to a client about food being healthy, annual dentals and remember that some cancers are genetic, and no matter HOW good of a pet parent they are, Cancer can still hit home.

Vets are human. They do make mistakes. They are not perfect. And there are some cancers that can have vaccines.

I cannot even begin to speak about the clinic or veterinarian that the original complaint is being spoken about. More likely there was possible confusion of the type of cancer, a vet that may have read other research stating that it is "Ok", etc. Dealing with young and old vets, I see a great wide span of information that conflicts. Which is why some vets will say one thing, other vets will say another.

This happens between private practices and within a single practice too.

It is actually very educational to listen to an older vet and a new fresh vet go at it over information that new research has come out on. Which has helped made me be the worse client in the world for any vet, let alone the vets I work with.

BEFORE YOU READ THIS: I understand that some people are so very upset with their experience with Banfield, that you could care less what I have to say. Then don't waste your time. I feel that if you hate Banfield, dont go back and dont have anything to do with the...

WOW! This person sounds bitter and angry - just like the vibe I always get from the vets at the Banfield I go to...

no matter how nice and respectful we are to them.

Maybe there should be more vets on staff to handle the volume of patients they agree to take on instead of making the pets, their owners, and themselves SO miserable. Yes, I am currently looking for alternative healthcare for my pets.

I just called the main office to get information on my account. (All agree that the receptionist at the hospital gave me wrong information. Even the doctor was chiming in with what she knew about the plan, then said "It's too complicated, I don't...

I am happy to see that at least one reader was able to see I did not have a tone, I was merely stating facts to help clear up any misunderstandings.

I have all my pets on a wellness plan, and I too must follow the same rules as the clients.

Personally, if I don't feel comfortable with a service or with the terms of the plan, then I will not bring my pets in. Regardless of whether or not I work at that establishment.

I cannot please all clients, but I do take the responsibility of my job seriously for helping others and their pets is my passion and my choice...not my burden.

Unfortunately, to some it's just a job they clock in for to get paid, and I cannot help that these same people represent the same company I do.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Washington, District Of Columbia - Banfield Animal Hospital-Rochester Hills, MI

This hospital is just wonderful. I have never had a problem with the staff, the services provided, or them trying to push products off on us that my pet does not need. I have never had to make an appointment to get my dogs in for treatment, they call me the next day to see how they are doing after ANY treatment. I have called and asked to talk to the vet and have always been able to, or she has called me back and will answer any question I have had. I have been a Wellness plan member for a year, my savings have been $3,600 and I will renew when the time comes. I am happy to belong to Banfield and will continue to be a customer

I work for Banfield and it makes me laugh to read all these. I can promise you that I make less than half all of you do and I work my butt off. Whatever vet you go to, Banfield or not you will find that someone is not going to be happy. I have worked at other clinics...

Wow, Amanda, You amaze me. you aren't worried about your job?

Why not post what hospital you are from on your next rude comment then.

I really understand if clients are dealing with you, why they are so very upset. I can't begin to apologize enough for it.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Chicago, Illinois - Banfield Mishawaka Awesome Clinic

They treat my two dogs like kings, when other Vets could not figure out what was wrong with my Rot after several attempts, the Dr. cured him in a week!!Great job! I especially like the nurse, I think her name was Kaci. Highly recommended! They are also stay open later which is great! There may be a wait but thats because she is taking the time to do the job right. The wellness plans have been great as well, nice to know I can take my baby to the vet and not have to worry about a office visit fee.

This is nothing to do with defending Banfield, it is about correcting a basic ignorance of how their plans work. IT IS NOT A MONTH-TO-MONTH INSURANCE!

It is an annual wellness plan. These are completely different things. On an annual wellness plan the total discounted costs for all the services offered over that whole year (vaccines, bloodwork, deworking, fecal exams, urinary exams, physical exams, and if any surgeries are included) are split in to 12 equal monthly payments. You are not just paying for what you used that exact month.

For example if in Jan you used vaccines and bloodwork that could easily cost ~$300, yet if you cancelled in Feb after only paying the monthly payment for Jan, they would lose ~$250. Having to pay the full annual costs - THAT YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT AGREEING TO - is just smart business, otherwise everyone would sign up, use all the $$$ services then cancel after 1-2 payments, leaving the company to eat the massive costs of this.

Businesses don't get this big & successful by being ***.
