The Wellness plan only covers the very basics in so far as the puppy's overall health care needs. Other then office visits being included at no charge.

Everything else will cost you out of pocket expenses.

i.e. any and all lab tests, medications etc.

Bandfields overall pricing is very high on medications, routine lab work & X-rays.

You can however save money on your pups prescription medications if you request the vet at Banfield give you a written prescription that you can have filled at a local pharmacy or pet supply pharmacy such as Foster & Smith or KV Pet Supply.

Vet's by law can not force you to purchase their in house pharmacy products or medications.

I got home one afternoon and my kitten Kam was acting odd (drooly and lethargic). I took him to Banfield of Everett, which is close to my house and has been giving Kam his vaccines. After waiting nearly two hours, a technician came out to tell me Kam had a broken jaw....

Signed up for the wellness plan that was portrayed as a savings/insurance plan. My dog got deathly ill a few months later and was euthanized at their clinic. the rep there said my contract was cancelled and I would owe no further money since my dog was no longer alive....

I feel your frustration. I just left Banfield and had a very similar experience. I get 100 different quotes every time I take one of my dogs in and honestly it's caused riffs between my hubby and I. I look like an ***. I'm definitely shopping for a new provider to care...

There are times that things cost extra (anywhere really with or without preventative plans) that is just part of having a pet. However, I completely agree with you on the whole "if you love your dog you'd do it" thing.

I will say I do work at a Banfield, not in Arizona, and that is completely unacceptable! I do not blame you at all for being upset about being talked to like that.

I cannot be done with this *** service soon enough. I fell for the *** USELESS puppy wellness plan that pretty much only covers the sterilization of my dog. Don't miss an appointment or they well charge you an additional fee for a shot that was supposed to be included...

Once you sign up for the Wellness plan you are obligated to pay for the plan whether you use all or only part of its medical coverage benefits. The Wellness plan can not be cancelled with out it being paid in full, nor does the Wellness plan contain any refund(s) for unused coverage an or services.

Sorry you're stuck paying off the entire Wellness plan amount in full and if you don't they will turn you over to a collection agency.

Took my almost 15 year old diabetic cat there for his blood curve tests. We dropped him off at 8:00am with his afternoon snack, and his 5:00 dinner along with his syringe of insulin. We picked him up at 7:00pm To take him home. On our way home the vet called to tell us...

Banfield Pet Hospital General Surgery Review from Chicago, Illinois

I have been taking my dog here since he was a puppy. Everyone at first was polite and very helpful. Now it seems lately there has been numberous issues. To make an appointment apparently doesn't mean anything anymore. When your appointment time is 7am for sugery and are told that your dog should be ready around 3pm and yes i understand that sometimes there are setbacks or emergencies but when the appt. Time is 9am and you dont pull the dog in until 12pm and your dog hasn't eaten since midnight. Why would i bring my dog in at 7am and what makes matters worse is i wasn't able to pick up my dog until 6:30pm that night. Im sorry but what is the point of an appointment? It shouldnt take 5hrs to prep for surgery and if it does maybe you should find another profession! The receptionist are rude and short amd some seem like they have no clue what they are talking about. This location should seriously reeducate or revamp their staff or i will take all 3 of my dogs somewhere else that actually cares about my pets the way I do!!!

Sorry to say Banfield has become a big box vet care service to say the least.

Its all about the sales. I like in the Chicago area and believe me you have your choice when it comes to your pets well being and medical care. May I suggest you find a privately owned local vet for your pets medical needs.

I think you are not understanding how a surgery works. To safely prep & recover a pet from a surgery can take several hours.

If you had surgery yourself you would expect to spend at least 1/2 a day in the hospital....right? Also as the other person said I REALLY doubt a Banfield hospital would do less than 4 surgeries a day, so that Dr/tech will have to do all the prep for each pet.

This all takes time. Before you go off on a rant & make yourself look uneducated next time why not just ask them.....or do some research.

First of all, your pet is not the only one having surgery. On average, they are prepping 4-6 surgeries a day.

Second of all, your pet doesn't walk off the surgery table and out the door to your car. There is a considerable amount of recovery time. When you combine bloodwork, catheter placement, physical exam, pre-medication with wait time, surgery, recovery, and any additional services the pet needs that day, you are talking about a 6-8 hour endeavor, minimum.

It takes this long because they have a high anesthetic standard across the board, and want your pet to wake up healthy and happy. If you want a faster surgery time, use a clinic that has a lower quality of medicine, so you don't have to wait on bloodwork, catheter, and proper anesthetic monitoring.

Banfield Pet Hospital Preventive Care Review from Schaumburg, Illinois

We used First Shield Trio twice on our dog (Bully breed). The first time was when she was 7 months (about 55lbs) and the 2nd was at 8 months. Both times she had skin burns on the back of her neck (starting point of application) and shoulders. She also would chew the tip of her tail (end point of application). Told Banfield and were just told to stop applying but still being charged for it monthly until our annual contract ends in a few months. Got stuck paying for the years worth.
