Banfield Pet Hospital in Menifee, California - Billed for "future appointments"

4.0
Details
I was moving after losing my job from Portland, OR to So. Calif. I cancelled my Wellness Program with Banfield as I could no longer afford it. After that I kept getting calls about paying for the remainder of my program which the person told me was almost $500. I told the caller that I kept up with the payments while I was on it. I told him I didn't owe any money and he said "Yes you owe for future appointments". I said 'future appointments, I'm not paying for future appointments". So now it's on my credit reports. Just great!

Make a consumer complaint to the Attorney General's office in the state for which you signed the contract. Send them a copy of your contract.

Also, check laws for harassment by creditors. Cancel your credit card or close and open a new checking account. File your story with the Credit Bureau.

Also, there is a Class Action in the works against them. You might want to join.

Your monthly payment takes what you got and spreads it over the year. You were paying for what you already got

its in their contract that you signed. read what you sign.

they have shady business practices just like any big corporation, so you have to be really careful what you sign, just like a cell phone, rental or cable contract. you can't sue because you signed it.

File a complaint with you local State's Attorney's office.

If at the time you signed up for the wellness plan and were not told that the plan could not be cancelled under any circumstances and you would in fact be liable for any and all monies owed. You were misled by the individual at Banfield that signed you up for not fully explaining the Wellness Plan contract policy to you.

Banfield fails to tell people their Wellness contract is going to continue and payable in FULL whether you use all the Wellness plan benefits or not. If your on the monthly payment plan you will continue to be billed until the plan is paid in full and if you pay in full at the onset of the plan and fail to use all the benefits yes, you can cancel the plan however, you will not be refunded any monies of the unused portion of the Banfields wellness plan.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Bad customer service

customer for over 3 yrs- my dog was having problems standing, called to get her in ASAP, "nothing opened until her scheduled appoint - Aug 22" if she's not in pain we'll see her then (today is Aug 4). I said, no she's not in pain, but having problems standing up, sorry you can try and call in the morning and see if the DR can see her, but we're booked solid. I called another vet, got an appointment for today, canceled my wellness program and appoint with Banfield and will not be going back there for any reason - their attitude was terrible to say the least

Do you go to your primary health care physician for a broken leg? No you go to an emergency room...

These people don't specialize in emergency care.

They specialize in preventive care.

@Anonymous

The problem is they market themselves as being able to see 'walk-in's' and be able to deal with sick pets/emergencies.....which is why people sign up on their plans....because they expect that then when their pet gets ill they can be seen in a timely manner by vets that know what they are doing.

They need to be honest with their clients & let them know they can only handle doing vaccines due to overbooking/understaffing/no 24hr care.

It's dishonest marketing they should be sued for it.

They market Banfield as a preventative and emergency vet. They tell people they can take their pets in for health concerns, and market their *** plan like it is pet insurance.

It is not. They hire inexperienced vet's and staff, and half the time do not bother to run the rest they claim to and over charge everything! An example? My vet charges me 200 dollars for Xrays, vet visit, pain meds, and interpretation of Xrays.

At Banfield it would have been tripled that!

Which is ridicules! Get a clue people and find private practice vet's that actually cares!

Corporate policies mean that all Banfield hospitals have to book 1 appt every 15 mins per Dr. This means that they overbook, are always running late & never have time to see sick pets.

Even if they 'squeeze you in' your pet isn't going to get the time & attention a regular vet could give you. I would never recommend this place for sick pets or emergencies because of how overbooked their management makes them everyday.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Wellness Plan Review from Hesperia, California

I just got married and I had two dogs of mine with Banfield insurance I had cancelled and was up to date with all payments I was never notified Banfield charged extra money it cost me over $900 a year later my husband wanted the dog back insured he went too bad field and enrolled his dog and my two dogs the girl bat enrolled him never changed my address and just put him in my personal information so we were never notified and we went into collections if my dog did not hurt her leg I would have never known it costes over $1,000 and the collection lady swore that she changed all the information that my husband put in the computer with the manager under him that everything was alright without my information because I end up closing my bank and went to my husband's bank and again I went to the vet and I was feel for her mistakes I think I will report it to Better Business Bureau so all person. Should look at their laziness by a small innocent mistake that the manager should have change I was never in the office at that time and they should be responsible for paying us back at least half of our money for sending us to collections we have perfect credit in Van feel never notified us but made us pay for their mistake please consider then look over every detail when it sounds too good it's not

Truth, you only needed a stool sample...100 percent true. However, if your dog hadn't been seen there before legally they do need to do an exam.

Also, they definitely should have given you an estimate or at least suggested calling to get your dogs records. For obvious reasons they can't just take your word your dog is up to date on vaccines, but that information can easily be obtained so they should have offered that to you.

Dressing up such a weak story as "I'm only 14" to get revenge on your vet is disgraceful on multiple counts.

"My dog fell because I was carrying him downstairs since he is old, small, fat and he can't go up and downstairs" So apparently it's the fault of the dog that you dropped it like a tard? Some people should not be permitted anywhere near animals.

File a complaint with your Ohio Vet Board. Go online to find the site.

Write your story and send pictures. Thirty days in advance of your wellness plan expiring, give notice that you will not renew.

Make someone sign the notice at the location where you got the plan. File a complaint with your Attorney General's office - consumer protection.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Richmond, Virginia - Bansfield Animal Hospital

I brought my dog to Bansfield Animal Hospital with a large tumor that became badly infected. She is a black lab and 12 yrs old. She was very sick and running a fever. The vet came in, touched her head, ran her hand down her back, peeked at the tumor and said "she needs surgery" and left. Never let me ask her a thing. She sent in the tech who said "surgery is going to be $1400 and you need to pay it up front. She also brought in papers for her to be put to sleep. We asked if we could pay for the surgery in payments, she said no and handed us the papers to put her down. She pretty much said that being put own was our only option. She IS 12 years old she said. My partner said she wanted her to have antibiotics and pain medicine and we would take her home. They did it, reluctantly. That shot and pain medication was $222. When we got the discharge papers it went on and on about her ears needing cleaning and her teeth needing work and that she was to fat. This vet never looked in her ears or her mouth so I have no idea how she knew these things. She was bleeding from the tumor really bad by the next day and I had changed her dressing at least 6 times over night. She had a fever and was visibly sick. The next morning we decided to take her to another vet who someone told us was good. We went there pretty much expecting to have to put her down. The vet came in an examined her. She said, lets do blood work, and see what it says. She said, what ever we do you can pay for it monthly. Anyway, the blood work came back perfect. Then she wanted to do an x ray to make sure there was no organ involvement with the tumor. We did that and no involvement at all. The entire tumor was just under the skin. She is perfectly healthy otherwise. PERFECTLY HEALTHY. I almost put my beautiful, perfectly healthy, fur baby to sleep because of the incompetence of that other vet. Long story short, she had the surgery, did fine and is coming home tomorrow. I suggest you think twice before you see the vet at Bansfield which is located within Pet Smart. They obviously only care about the money.

Total incompetent, and ***, just shows Banfield sucks!

Banfield is only good for vaccines, not sick pets or surgeries. Their vets are too overbooked (+30 cases a day on average) so they don't get enough time to spend with complicated cases. Use a small local vet that isn't so overbooked & you will bet better care & better quality of medicine.

#1013788

Call a few local vets in your area or take the dog to a specialty clinic. x-rays should be taken as well as the tumor aspirated to see if cancer cells are present or if its a fatty tumor.

Banfield is fine for general shots and perhaps a check up. Not good for what may become a major surgery procedure.

The coupon was for a free visit, not a free nail trim. It wasn't a "this coupon is worth $40 towards whatever you want".

And some of them do treat exotics, it depends on the location. I've been with my rats at other locations and they've been seen.
