Banfield Pet Hospital in San Francisco, California - *** CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Love how my well plan auto renewed, even though I haven't used the service in months........Then when I call to cancel the store sends me to an 888 number, where not only they refuse to issue the 24.95 that's pending.....(not even the two months prior!) but tell me to call the store where I started, Thanks for lying every single moment of this fiasco... DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! Holy ***, I'll stick with buying local......I should have known better than to deviate from my tried and true motto, stick with people who actually care about you, your pet, and your business.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Peoria, Arizona - Pet insurance plan

I have 5 dogs on their plans. Since the franchise owner sold back to Banfield, the service has gone from great to horrible. In an emergency, they say they have no appointments, they are a wellness plan, but posted on there wall, it says we take sick or injured pets first. I tried to cancel all plans and they said they would charge me for the balances. I can't get service but I have to pay $200.00 a month. I will never step foot in another one as they "over inflate their prices. Money is all they are after.

Its a big box medical wellness care center. A private vet is always your best option.

A private vet and their staff know both you and your pet on a personal level. Whereas, a big box wellness care facility only knows you and your pet at the cash register.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee - Cat suffered and had to be put to sleep

My cat had urinary block , he was cathaderized , but they did not size the e colar on him right .He pulled the cathadar out as soon as I let him out of his carrier . They would not do anything to try to help him and his condition deterrierated! They did not give him enough medicine to keep him out of pain . They were rude when I called and told them he was in pain . When they relized what they had done they also told me he didn't need to come in to be seen that day . He had to be put to sleep , they were not even sympathetic . Sloppy work ! And attitudes not becoming to thier profession . Only interested that I payed the bill . Shame on them !

The problem with Banfield's in general is that they hire very young, inexperienced vets then massively overbook them so that they only get a few mins with each appointment. They don't have time to look in depth at cases, and becaus wthey change Drs so often you get different Drs seeing your pet so they aren't familiar with it. They are great for vaccines, but for anything else I would get a vet that is able to spend quality time with your pet.

Perhaps I'm a bit picky as to a vets or vet assistant that's performing an exam on one of my dogs. However, I have a few issues concerning the overall medical education Banfield vet tech's have. Are the vet tech's required to have some kind of formal medical training...

The wellness plan is NOT insurance. It's a preventive care package.

There is no licensing for a vet assistant.

Only RVT (Registered Vet Tech) go through schooling and get licensed. There is a school for vet assistants, but it's actually a waste of money and you learn more on the job. You also don't get a license with the vet assistant school, just a certificate of completion.

Banfield hires both RVT and VA.

Vet assistants may not have schooling, but we are on the job trained and go through very thorough training.

Also, a license doesn't mean they are good. I know a ton of RVT (non banfield) who are terrible, but know a ton of vet assistants (both banfield and non banfield) who are phenomenal.

Someone who isn't licensed but had years of experience is going to know more than someone right out of school. Especially if said person has like 5-10yrs experience or more.

Hope that answers your question.

Totally just realized, after I wrote all this, that this post is about a year old. My bad lol

WORKING OUT OF STATE WHEN OUR PUPPY OF ONE YEAR NEEDED YEARLY SHOTS.WE TOOK HIM TO THE BANIFIELD PETSMART BECAUSE IT WAS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO WHERE WE WERE STAYING. THEY TOOK OUR ABY AWAY FROM US AND TOOK HIM INTO THE BACKROOM. Next we heard was our baby screaming. They brought our pure bred you Yorkies back and said they had TO give him his shots in his shoulder. No other vet we spoke to has heard of his practice. Our baby lost s hair around the area and is now 9 with the bald spot. I will never take any animal to this or any other BANIFIELD vet. They must hire D or grads.

I am not sure what sort of vet you go to otherwise but yes vaccines go in shoulders. Also, they probably took him to the back because of the needles and yelping, some vets prefer doing vaccines away from the client but I am positive you could have asked them to do it in front of you.

Maybe saying the puppy needed a time out was the wrong way to phrase it but it is important to start making owners away of any aggressive behavior so that you can get training ASAP. If she gets older and the behaviors hasn't improved and she bites someone they can sue you and/or your pet may be siezed and euthanized!!! It is super important to not allow any aggressive behaour because of this.

My afghan hound has never had a reaction to any type of flea control on the market. When I gave her Trio, she almost knawed her skin off and chewed herself for weeks.

Both times it was administered, during two completely different periods in time, she had the same wickedly severe skin inflammation and only on her ribs. I had to stop giving it and put her back in Frontline plus.
