Banfield Pet Hospital - Pet Vaccination Review

Hello, I too was prescribed this flea preventative for my 4 lb. Chihuahua. The box clearly states for puppies and adults. 2.4 lbs to 50 lbs. I'm sitting here with my baby girl who is 8 months old. She is wrapped in a towel after having a double bath with Dawn dish soap. I gave her the treatment at 5 pm. This evening. At around midnight she woke me up crying and vomiting. After she would vomit she refused water. She was walking around as if looking for a place to hide. I got the box to check for side effects. There was nothing listed. Just human. I called her name and she did not come to me. That extremely unusual. I had to hunt her down. She had gone under my bed and cued in a little ball and was quivering like she was cold. I pulled her out from under the bed and she laid lifeless in my arms. She would have tremors about ever 2 to 3 seconds. She vomited on me. I immediately gave her a bath and then another a half hour later. She is still having tremors. She has settled down inside the towel on mommy's lap. I will never use this *** again. And one more thing. Banfield is a bunch of quack *** They have had to put one of my babies to sleep stating he was in terrible pain etc. From a luxating patella. He was 9 months old. I listened and trusted them. Who doesn't trust a vet. For those of you saying you can't blame the vet, YES YOU CAN! Do doctors not get called out on malpractice? I have had a cat put to sleep in the past. They gave Nero a sedative he was asleep before they began to euthanize him. Peanut was said per the vet to have been given a sedative. They took him in the back and ivd. Him so I took their word for it. However they seemed rushed and began the euthanasia injections. Peanut flipped out he began screaming and clawing at me. It was horrible. He would calm then fire up again. I'm flipping out. Why isn't he asleep. Why is he screaming. What have I let you do. The vet said peanut was fighting it. (That made me feel better, not) she also stated he was excited and it was causing the medicine to course through his system slower. Wth? I begged them to give him something sedate him. The vet said she did there was nothing she could do. I told her to give him more of the pentathol or whatever they use so she gave him more. I watched and held in my arms my baby as he slowly died looking up at me for help. Screaming and fighting for 20 whole minutes. Now this. You can not get off their plans. You can not transfer them. So I paid 66.00 to watch my baby slowly die. And believe me I was at the point I was begging them to shoot him or something because it was horrible. I wanted him to go peacefully. This was not peaceful nor quick. I still have to pay 42.95 a month till next March for services that won't be rendered.he was only on the plan 4 months. Banfield is about money. Their staff is unprofessional. The vets I'm not even sure are certified and if they are they must have graduated at the very bottom of their class. They have a lot of issues with pushing dogs that kill animals. So let's review this. Get people on plans kill pet collect money for services no longer being rendered. Don't believe me Google trifexis. Or Banfield and Trifexis. They push that drug very heavily too. It's a 3 in one that's killing at least I believe 700 dogs a day. Research is right smart *** who made that comment. Our pets are our children no different a pediatrician to a vet. They are supposed to know better. That why they are the vet and we are the pet owners.

Uhhhhh, yeah! If the tone you wrote this is any indication then yeah I can imagine you being rude to the receptionist.

I would make sure your vet had the correct fax number because the poor receptionist has no control over whether a fax arrives or not, that's totally up to the sender!

Also, never wait until your pet has run out/almost run out of food to request a refill, that's just bad planning. What would happen if they didn't have the food in stock & you had to wait for a delivery?

Banfield Pet Hospital in Mohegan Lake, New York - My dog had a UTI

I tried for a month to get an appt for my dog and I told them my dog was suffering and she really needed to see the vet.... My dog has been going to Banfield for 12 years but the receptionist told me tough they were too busy and to take her somewhere else, so heartless and mean .... Every time my dog needed an appt it was always the same story. The receptionist would not let me talk to a vet or give me a name of a vet though I told her I have been trying to get in for a month and the dog was was suffering.... She finally gave me the number for emergency hospital but it was an hour away... I finally found a great local veterinarian and they helped my dog within the hour. Banfield is horrible veterinarian hospital and I wouldn't bring an insect there for help!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Saint Charles, Missouri - Dog has vomiting only thing they want to do is XRAY!!

My dog has been sick for at least a month now, my first visit to Banfield with this issue was on 7/30/14. He is vomiting all liquids, but after 3 weeks starting to keep down solid food. I can not afford a $250 xray if all it's going to tell us is to do surgery that I can not afford either. But I called my old vet and his price for an xray is $50. When I called Banfield with his price, the vet smartly said that I should then go there. Why do we have this insurance if you always have to pay something anyway. Everything that they have done over the last year has been overpriced. When I asked about cancelling policy, was told that I would have to pay until renewal time. This place comes off as all lovey-dovey towards your pet but all they really want is your money. Finally went to old vet to get a second opinion.

What banfield sells is NOT INSURANCE!! It is a 'Wellness' Plan ONLY.

That means that it covers routine care such as vaccines, exams, and a set of general screening bloodwork. If you get one of the higher cost plans it can include either a spay, a neuter or a dental cleaning as well.

Again, these plans ARE NOT INSURANCE. I have had my 3 pets on them for years & this was made clear when we signed up & if you had read the paperwork YOU signed then you should already know this.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Chameleon Review

Almost a month ago I was gifted a veiled chameleon. I wasn't quite prepared for her because she was a gift, but I searched online on chameleon forums and talked to experienced owners in order to get the correct gear for her. About a week and a half into having her she started to gape at me and I noticed she had some spit gathered around her mouth. She became more lethargic. I decided to take her to Banfield because I have had good experience with them before when they treated my kitten. I got there and waited. And waited. Then finally I was seen by a "reptile specialist" and he said she was fine, everything was good and told me to tweak a few of the things in her terrarium and to stop feeding her as much, which I did immediately. They charged me $50 or so for this. The next week she continued to get more lethargic. She would eat less and drink less and became very clumsy when she walked around on her plants. I went out of town for three days and left her in the care of my father. When I got home she was worse even though he had cared for her all weekend. She would hardly open her eyes anymore. Just last night I went back to petsmart and got more for her enclosure to try and help. When I was leaving I walked past Banfield and saw the same "reptile specialist" treating a dog! I got home from the store and she appeared even worse. I decided to call another veternarian because I no longer trusted the opinion of the people I saw at Banfield. it was too late in the evening to get her to the vet so I told the vet I would come in in the morning. I woke up this morning and my chameleon, Pascal, was dead. She was laying at the bottom of her terrarium a very dark color. I can't help but think that if she had seen a different vet she would still be alive.

You do realize Vets treat much more than just 1 species right? A vet is trained in dogs, cats, cows, horses, sheep/goats, as well as exotics.

They can then take extended training in a specialty, just like a human Dr. So just because you saw him treating a dog means absolutely nothing.

Not enough people own/are willing to pay for veterinary care for reptiles to make it possible for many vets to financially survive just by doing 1 species. Almost all vets I know have to be willing to see & treat multiple species to be able to keep a job.

If your pet continued to get worse why didn't you take it back to the veterinarian or to a different veterinarian. If your pet was sick and then you went out of town, it doesn't seem like you were too concerned. It is sad to loose a pet though.

Wellness Plans are NOT INSURANCE!!!! If you read the paperwork when you signed up you would have seen it was clearly explained what would/would not be covered.

If you were in too much of a rush/too lazy to do that it is your fault. AND NEWS FLASH...................... having a pet can cost you money if they get sick. Vet's offices are not charity & dont get any govermnent or insurance funding to help cover the costs of things like in human medicine.

YOU (the owner) have to pay for the cost of the vet's time, the nurse's time, the receptionist's time, the office rental/utilities, the equiptment (such as xrays, bloodwork machines) rental & maintinence, the medications. If these things were not payed for ther would be no vets office.

So if you have a pet get insurance (actual insurance, not just a Wellness Plan) & always have an emergency fund in case your pet gets sick because even with most actual insurance's you still have a co-pay/dedictible that you would have to pay as well as having to pay for the services up-front then getting reimbursed (if the insurance approves). sadly, in the real world you can't expect other people to cover the costs of your pet getting ill.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

First, why did you let his skin get that bad before seeking treatment? That skin is necrotic, which means dead.

That isn't something that happens overnight.

Second, unfortunately anesthesia is never 100% safe and things can happen that are beyond anyone's control.

Third, yes, they were aware of his heart rate dropping during the Neuter since they performed the surgery & I'm sure this time, they took every precaution to make sure it didn't happen again.

Yes, it is risky to put him under again. However, since his infection was so bad, the pros of doing the surgery outweighed the risks. The only way to remove necrotic tissue is surgery and it does need to be removed, otherwise it can be fatal for a pet.

Obviously the second surgery proved to be fatal and again, I'm very sorry.

But they did absolutely nothing wrong according to what you've written. I'm just going to say that good luck suing. As I said, from what you've written there's nothing that was done wrong on their end. Anesthesia is never risk free, especially if the pet has had a problem with anesthesia prior.

I worked for Banfield for almost 6yrs. They notate every single thing, especially when it comes to surgery.

The pre meds given and how much was given, every type of monitoring done, bloodwork, IV catheter (where it was placed, what gauge etc), etc. Every little thing.
