Molar Extraction Review

Cannot say enough BAD things about this chain of pet hospital! They wanted $880 for two molar extractions for my cat. Checked other local hospitals, and found one who'd do it for $400, another for $300. Banfield takes advantage of our love for our pets, period. STAY AWAY!!

I have worked at vet hospitals and I can tell you that if your pet was new to that clinic you must have a physical exam done. They cannot just give your pet a vaccine if there is no relationship established with a vet.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Gurnee, Illinois - Total disrespect

I am disgusted with the nonchalant attitude Banfield employees handle their customers and the lack of accountability they have towards faulty products they sell to people. I pay for a product "flea and tick medication", First Shield and my dog has fleas 2 weeks later and is suffering and spreading it to my cat and my house and their solution was to call a professional exterminator, asked me when I bathed my dog before and after medicine and did I treat surrounding area. Check it out if the product doesn't work on my pet give me my money back. I mean really do I have to explain myself? I am a paying customer buying a product to take care of my animal and if it doesn't work then what am I paying for and why should I loose my money for something that didn't work and caused my pet to suffer.

Actually that's true. With any topical flea prevention, if you don't treat your yard and wash all the bedding on which the dog has been, a flea prevention isn't going to do much.

Any topical flea prevention shouldn't be put on if the pet has been bathed within 48hrs.

And vice versa. If you put the flea stuff on you have to wait 48hrs to bathe.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Incompetent, Uncaring, Rude people who HATE animals work here!

I had used this site for my animals (I have 10) for over 10 years. I was very satisfied with the services...until the old vet left (and took his incredible staff). The new vets and staff are HORRIFIC! Here are some examples: 1. Tried to make an appointment to have my cat euthanized. Was told it really wasn't an emergency and I could have an appointment in 7 days. Apparently they are under the belief that cats don't feel pain and can't suffer. 2. Brought in my daschund with disc disease. THE VET NEVER TOUCHED HER during the examination (but magically managed to "touch" the bill creation button!). 3. Had an appointment to bring in my 7 month puppy to be spayed. Original price I was quoted was $250-300 (gulp). However, once at the appointment, as I'm getting ready to hand over my puppy, front desk staff says "I need $595 for the surgery." Whoooh! When I questioned the double in price, her response was "because." I then asked for a complete price breakdown of what that would entail...but no body could provide the information. My puppy and I left! 4. I had asked to speak to the Office Manager after the last incident. After waiting a week with no contact from her, I filed a complaint with the corporate office. The office manager called me about 15 minutes after I filed the complaint. She told me she had received an email from corporate, so she was 'doing her job by calling me." She was NOT helpful, was NOT willing to discuss and of my concerns and was downright rude. Please, if you love your creatures DO NOT GO HERE. EVER. They do not like animals. They LOVE money. Please....find a real vet!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Oregon - Scammed prices, unprofessionalism

Be prepared to spend a lot of money for below average service you and your pet do not deserve. I had the unfortunate experience of going to Banfield for my cat to get spayed. In the consultation room, the vet technician was more of a sales person than anything. The consultation became more of a sales presentation than a consultation for my cat. Immediately, we were given pamphlets of various vet packages to purchase. The basic package which is the Wellness Plan was being repeated over and over again with an aim to ultimately, sell packages and make $$$$. We made it clear that we only wanted the cat to only be spayed and mentioned our budget concerns. Long story short, after being in the room for over an hour discussing price plans, we settled as we were led to believe spaying was part of the plan. This amounted to $400+. We confirmed, double checked that this was the final price and agreed (we knew that there may be some additional charges for meds). Basically, we just didn't want to stall on our kitty's operation any longer. Thankfully, we paid the "final" bill right after the consultation as we wanted to get the payment bit all sorted. When we went to pick the cat up, we were told that there was payment remaining that amounted to nearly $300. What exactly happened here? I don't want to go into too much detail but of course we refused to pay for something we didn't agree to. How did getting a cat spayed cost $700+? .. Moreover, the veterinarian's consultation after the surgery was minimal considering there was a complication in the surgery. The vet could not give alternative treatments nor did she know. She was rather unhelpful. To make matters worse, the staff attending to us was unprofessional. We refused to pay as we wanted to speak to a manager who wasn't around. We were told to wait indefinitely for the manager and that we can't leave without paying! Imagine that, being held by the vet. The staff was uncooperative, rude, and spoke to us as if we were ***. Of course, we left as it was a better idea to schedule a talk with the manager instead of merely waiting. Banfield claims, "we don't know the price yet, you will only know the full price after the appointment/surgery" which makes me think , who in their right mind will leave a bill to an open variable! It's so sad to see how many people have fallen prey to their scams and large bills. There are better vets and pet care for you and your fluffy friend, I suggest to skip Banfield and head to those instead.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Clarksville, Tennessee - Dog died the first month into the plan

This Hospital doesnt care much about your pet. The only thing they want is your money. Sometimes we asked ourselve, look at tha dog, is sick , is abonden, well we all have to than this Hospital for making it so expensiveto check our pets. My story is as follow. My puppy was 3 weeks into the new plan. My dog passed away. My kids were sad so as a good parent i purchase another dog, the plan that i purchased was used for the first set of vaccination for my first dog before he passed. I call Banfield to see if i can continue using the current plan and this is the answer i get. Sir since we already have a medical record under this plan yo cant use it for another pet neither you can cancelled. You have to purchased another medical plan. This is the must ridiculous thing i ever heard. So know i have to pay the remaing 11 months on my dead dog and purchase a new plan

"My kids were sad so as a good parent i purchase another dog..."

Are you for real? Why are you "purchasing" dogs?

Why are you trying to stay with the same vet that gave your first dog (a puppy!!) such inadequate care that it died?

Your dog dies, so you just go out and get another one like it's a cell phone or a piece of furniture? You sound like a *** who really should not have guardianship of any animals...

Whatever "card" you put the plan on, call the bank & cancel it. Ask to be issued a new card & NEW number.

If they don't have the number, they can't get the money. Then screw them!

It's not right, but then the *** they're pulling isn't either. Do unto others BEFORE the do unto you...not exactly what they meant but we shouldn't be screwed either!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Casselberry, Florida - Shorted my dogs prescription

My dog suffers from hip dysphasia and is on a pain killer. I took him in for a "check" I.e. Blood work after only 2 months of prescription because the required it. Now that is 139 every 2 months in and of itself but the reason I am posting is not the over done unneeded tests but because ban field in casselberry fl shorted my dog 40, yes that is forty, not four or five pills that I paid for. When I got home the bottle seemed light so I counted the. And then tried to contact banfield. I was told that the vet counted it herself and that it was not their mistake acting like I was trying to get something over on them. I will never go back and if you do make sure to count ANY prescription right there

Banfield Pet Hospital in Plainfield, Illinois - Tricked into paying for uneccessary tests and pet wellness package

We were told the dog we adopted might die overnight if expensive tests were not run; it turned out he only had a cold, which could have been diagnosed without any tests. We were told to buy the pet wellness package thing they had to cover the costs and so we did, but we still had to pay almost $200 at "checkout" for everything. They only care about money and are extremely manipulative, toying with your emotions to get you to spend money on tests that do not need to be run. We have never come across such a dishonest vet and do not recommend that anyone goes here.

It sounds good at the time but you end up paying way too much. I wanted flea an heart guard, a little over six months so they wanted to do another blood test.

Also was told I could cancel at any time. I called and wrote letters but now am getting phone calls all the time. Turning me over to collection if I don't pay 218.00 by September 19 th. Would it not be cheaper and better customer relations to stop this.

I will never set foot in pet smart again. I have several pets and bought all my supplies.

Never again.

@Anonymous

if you read the contract at the time you signed up for the wellness plan you would've seen it is in fact a YEAR contract and that you can cancel anytime, but you would still have to pay fees. if you oew ANY company a fee and you're not paying they would eventually send you to a collections agency, can't comment on the customer service being bad just because you're not allowed to get services for free.

A LOT OF PETS DIE FROM OVER VACCINE.CHECK AND RESEARCH WHAT EACH THING IN THE SHOT COVERS.SOME THINGS DON`T NEED TO BE REDONE EACH YEAR. SOME THINGS ONE SHOT AND THEIR GOOD FOR 5 TO 7 YEARS.

YOU DON`T HAVE TO HAVE A 7 IN 1 YOU CAN GET A 4 OR 3 IN ONE SHOT.

WHY HAVE ALL THAT EXTRA CHEMICALS GOING INTO YOUR PET IF NOT NEEDED. WHY GET A SHOT FOR LYME DISEASE WHEN YOUR DOG WILL NEVER BE EXPOSED TO TICKS FOR EXAMPLE.KNOW WHAT THE DOCTOR IS PUTTING INTO YOUR PET!

I'm so sorry your dog passed. However you really should make sure the 'research' you are reading is from licensed professionals or journal recognised studies, not just people stating their (in most cases uneducated, non-medical based opinions).

Being a licensed veterinarian of >8years experience in multiple clinics I can state that I know of no formal, journal approved studies that show healthy dogs & cats can only handle 1 vaccine at a time. Sometimes an already immunocompromised/ill pet may need vaccinations spread out/only have 1 at a time because they have a hard time responding to the vaccine, but those are pretty rare cases. While life-threatening vaccine reactions are very sad, they are also quite rare. My clinic (not a banfield btw) routinely vaccinate healthy animals with 2-3 vaccines at a time so that owners dont have to pay multiple office visit fees & in all this time we have had 1, maybe a 2nd (unconfirmed) cases of severe reactions that resulted in an animal passing.

That's spread out over thousands & thousands of pets........so a tiny percentage. Having said that it is really not fair that you still have to pay for insurance after your pet passed.
