The cost was a lot but my dog was treated with compassion unlike Banfield!!!! I feel there prices are more then a person would be charged in a Hospital Attorney GENERAL NEEDS TO CHECK INTO OVER CHARGING!!!!!

Banfield Pet Hospital - Wellness Plan Review from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

My puppy had a fracture due to my granddaughter accidentally falling on her. Banfield gave us a hospital they deal with. When I called they wanted 2000.00 up front. We called another hospital that was recommended to us. Anyhow they did the surgery. Was VERY pleased. Puppy came through it wonderful so we scheduled an appointment to have them spay her (2 months early then her turning 6months). It was done on 7/7. She somehow got the runs. Instead of driving an hour away with a dog with the runs and 2 little girls I called Banfield. Got an appointment. Went in. The assistant of course asked about the *** wellness plan. Again I said no. So anyhow the vet came in. Have me this look and goes. So u took her someplace else said yes n explained. she goes what they didn't want to see her now.. I was so mad. She was lucky my granddaughters were with mev Working on finding another vet

Extra Charge Review

One - doesn't seem to know a shaved dog from one that has extreme hair loss. Two - tells me that I need to schedule a follow-up appointment and does not tell me that there is an additional charge. Waits until I pick up my dog to tell me there is an extra charge.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Temple, Texas - Not all are the same

I just found out that it does not matter that there is a Benfield Hospital near your new place. Had to move down to Temple from Dallas, and found out that they are a Franchise and not the same as Benfield. So, my dog who is all ready having anxiety issues, would now have to go in to their hospital just so I can get the same medications that I was getting at the other one in Dallas. I will not do this, so I can go to any Vet for this then, and staying loyal to Benfield simply does not matter. Thought it did. Never again will I go to a corporate place such as this, I won't even go in there for anything now. Use to go there once a week with my little dog.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee - Died A Painful Death

I took my chihuahua in because he was coughing up blood and appeared to be having a hard time breathing. These were his only symptoms and it started suddenly. He was fine the day before, very active and eating well. They recommended doing bloodwork and x-rays at a cost of over $400. I agreed to the bloodwork first. Everything came back very good, especially given that he was 14 years old. I asked if it was possible if he had ingested some type of poison. They asked if he had access to any. As far as I knew, he didn't, but I didn't know if anyone had given him anything. They prescribed $200 worth of medicine that I later found out were for symptoms he didn't have, like diarrhea. He died the next morning. I called them as he was convulsing, and they kept putting me on hold until I screamed that he was dying. They told me to bring him in. My husband took him, but he was already dead. They told him it would normally be $90 for bringing him back in, but they waived that fee (thought that was kind of them, NOT). I called to ask if they bloodwork checked for poison, and they said no. That would require a toxicology, which they didn't suggest. I really feel he was poisoned, and he died a very painful death with blood pouring out of his mouth. They came across as very caring and sympathetic, but I now feel that it was all about the money. This happened on a holiday, so I was limited in choices. I wish I would have just given him something to make him throw up, as that was my first instinct. Coincidentally, an EMT had just told me a couple of days before that a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide would do that and not cause any physical harm. I researched online and found that his symptoms were common for internal bleeding due to poisoning. This complaint states I lost $400 but he was worth way more than that to me.

but you told them he didnt have any access to poison?!? are they supposed to assume you are lying or don't know what your own dog could be exposed to.

if vets have to figure that everything an owner is saying to wrong you could never figure out what is going on with a pet. vets have to be able to trust what the owner tells them, or they will waste a lot of time and money ruling out causes of problems that are unnecessary to rule out.

maybe in this case they should have just run the test anyway to make sure but toxicology test cost a lot and i know where i worked people would be upset if we ran them and there was nothing on them and then they would just accuse us of trying to make more moeny. so either they have to believe what an owner says or they just have to rule out all the possible causes anyway and charge the owner for all the testing and then get upset owners because of the costs of all the tests, they cant win

any meds can cause a reaction. Every pet is different just like humans who can have a reaction to meds.

You can't blame the clinic. It says there maybe adverse reactions if you read the insert. And as far as your 13 yr old its just a weird coincident that happened. Your pet could have underlying issies you weren't aware of that's why they recommend yearly bloodwk and semi annual exam for senior pets.

Don't blame the clinic veterinary medicine is not 100% accurate just like the human side.

Would you blame your dr if you had a reaction to meds that you never took and or a disease that was left untreated because you didn't get anything done annually at your physical

You are just looking for someone to blame and understandably. Sorry for your loss.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona - Banfield Killed my Sweet Dog...

Its been almost 2 weeks since I took my little girl Rosie in to have an abscess drained and ended up losing my sweet girl. The Banfield I regularly go to couldn't see her so I took her to one a bit farther. I dropped her off (as she would be "fit in") and called a few hours later to check on her. The girl at the front was laughing about how she had been barking all morning and said she would call back. Never heard back so I called again shortly after as her comments about the barking bothered me. She was trying to tell them something!!! In her records it clearly states she is Hypoglycemic and I feared they hadn't checked her or fed her for hours. When I called back frantic she said there was an emergency and nobody could talk to me. I begged them to give her peanut butter or something as I was worried. Called me back a few minutes later to say "You need to come right away". I got there in time to hold her limp and lifeless body in my arms...and the kind fake-crying vet telling me "We won't discuss the cost of trying to save her right now". Why thank you so much Tatum Road Banfield.

We brought our 2 kittens to her. We had the plan with banfield so we were trapped.

She was rude, deceitful, and a cat hater.

I was traumatized by my experience with her as well as our cats. We now have a wonderful vet.

Took my dog to Banfield e Hanover new jersey today for his 1030 am appt. they said they had only 3 appts.

today so there would be no waiting. I was there 3 weeks ago cos dog was limping and at that appt, they said his leg felt fine, and he also needed his nails cut, which could have caused limping. The vet suggested all bloodwork etc and that it could be lyme disease! I said he has LYME  and it was diagnosed and treated HERE!

I said no to costly bloodwork. The limping stopped but started again yesterday, so I got the appt today-July 4. Got there 10 am, they said xrays were needed and he needed to be sedated cos he wont let them touch his leg. They said come back for him 4PM. well, at 4PM they said they xrayed him 20 minutes ago! and wait till he wakes ,which was about 35 minutes wait.

The problem here is, why keep him in a crate all those hours and do the procedure 4-5 hours later. They also made us wait in the room this morning for 40 minutes when they told us they would not be busy on JULY 4! The bill and bloodwork was 6 hundred 20 dollars plus 40 bucks in vitamin supplements. I am disgusted with them!

And the radiologist was not available today to read the X-Rays.

Our dog has never seen the same vet there, and they have time to read the dogs history, which is right on their computer screen.  I cannot believe the vet did not even take the time to look over my dog's medical history. Lazy, unprofessional, and UNACCEPTABLE.
