as to what I am reading about Banfield. I work there and all this is crazy. Dog dying after surgery? We do routine blood work, if anything is slightly funny we wont do a surgery. If our doctors have no idea what wrong with your pet, they will tell you and send you to a...

at least you admit your an employee. Kudos on that point.

the reviews here seem to be overwhelmingly about the poor or lack of treatment of our beloved pets. The wellness plan in my opinion is a joke 16 pages of tests that didn't match the vets tests after Banfield didn't respond to an emergency in Bellingham MA after I called ahead! hate them looking into a class action suit as suggested on this site. The collections dept they turned my account over to for 174 dollars is a joke with my 823 credit score, Experian is working on removing it anyway....

read away. 1300 bad reviews on this site.

glad I found it. and I will search out more sites of the same nature.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Whitehall, Pennsylvania - Banfield negligence killed my cats

Our 4 year old cat was taken in for a follow up visit...and our cat was killed due to negligence. Improper procedures and flawed judgment resulted in the death of our cat although it was not critical when we arrived. It is shocking....Information regarding his death is being withheld. They charged us $250.00 10 minutes after pronouncing his death. Finally, they said they cannot offer sympathy because it is an admission of guilt. We are sick with grief and miss our cat. This is not a place where you should take your pet, especially considering the many other negative reviews.

My family joined the Banfield wellness plan after being sold like a car salesman by a vet. We later found out that the plan includes large amounts of vaccinations that my small dog did not do well. with. I asked the vet if so many vaccinations are truly necessary and...

I never have been treated this such disrespect as I have each time I complained about the heartless way your company responded to my issue. Where is the management that lets my complaint be pushed through like I am less of a human for the fact that I can not afford...

Anyone that works with animals treats people who don't have too much money, and treat them like their dirt. I lost my dog over it, but mainly I lost her over some *** roommates, who I hope they die someday, and I took their dogs because they don't know how to take care of them.

I couldn't get mine back, because the shelter said "it's best she goes to someone else." I took it that they implied because I'm not rich.

Apparently in this world you have to be rich to do anything. Even if someone is working hard for what they have. I'm sorry for your loss of your cat, but I wouldn't go to that hospital as I've seen plenty of reviews about them.

A small vet or something around town would be best in my opinion.

I've heard of pet insurance, but everything thinks it's only if your pet is sick. Not true, some insurance can cover surgery, hereditary illness, etc.

I would NEVER recommend or refer anyone to take their loved one to the Bandfield Pet Hospital in Antioch, California. My Chihuahua came in for dental cleaning & Dr. Lobus recommended that she perform dental surgery. Being a concerned parent, I trusted her to do...

The Banfield employee who signed us up for the Wellness Plan never explained to me that I'd be expected to continue paying on a plan if something happened to my cat. A couple of years ago we adopted an elderly cat (very sweet guy, no regrets - adopt older pets!) and...

This is the first properly articulated comment I have read, which is saying something since I have read about 100 of them. I started checking on the Banfield Vet Services this afternoon, wanting to get my small dog's nails clipped.

They are long due to not being able to walk her in cold, snowy weather (I'm in Minnesota), and my inattentiveness the past week. The PetSmart with the Banfield Clinic is closer than the vet I have brought her to for care and nail trims since she was 7 weeks old when I adopted her (rescue pet), and I was in a time crunch.

Despite it costing more than a groomer would charge, my long-term vet group is so good I'll continue to bring her there. The respect they show for my pup and not just myself gains MY respect for them and I trust them completely.

After reading nothing but "horror stories" and complaints, I changed my mind about even trying Banfield. While it is true that many of the complaints are about clinics overseas, and are so poorly written - there is a spell-check feature at the top of the comment box, if nothing else - that I began feeling skeptical about many of the complaints.

However, as I progressed through the complaints, several themes emerged: 1) The staff was dismissive of the pain and underlying grief of the owners; 2) a stone-cold lack of responsiveness and respect for the owners, forgetting that just because this is the 50th "cat with kidney failure" in your career, it is the FIRST "this is my beloved cat that is dying" for the owner; 3) staff shows a level of complacency that borders on incompetence; 4) bedside manner isn't a joke, and the apparent "Dr. House" attitude of "I'm such a genius I don't have to be nice or take the time to explain" is inappropriate and cruel - makes for good TV, but not real life.

There are more, but I need to stop. The staff who engages in the unacceptable behavior (you know who you are) needs to know this: As a Nurse Educator I have done studies, surveys, and research on what it is that patients REALLY want when they visit a clinic. Here it is, this comment was recorded during a taped small-group interview: "I DON'T MIND IF MY DOCTOR IS A LITTLE BIT INCOMPETENT AS LONG AS HE'S NICE TO ME".

There you have it - and it has been proven that the doctors who have made a mistake and she/he sincerely apologizes, they are far less likely to get sued - even if the outcome is death...

FYI, yes, if there is a contract for care for your pet, and the pet dies, finishing paying out the contract is a lousy policy. BUT, paying for services rendered and the pet dies is a reality - same as if a loved one is ambulanced to the ER and dies, you are liable for the ambulance costs and ER charges regardless.

We took our healthy and happy 6 year old cat for a routine teeth cleaning on 3/8/14 (Westerville/Columbus, OH) and they gave her too much sedative and she died. Now we are at a loss without our beloved family member. Vets and techs at Banfield could care less about...

They overdosed my Chihuahua so I would agree to revive her for an additional $599 They gave her heart massage, broke a rib, she went into shock and they did not tell me,I asked what was wrong with her eyes, they were silent, someone else told me days later when I said her eyes were dilated. Then they get more money for her second death.

I paid $175 for them to kill my dog. I had her cremated at the humane society in 24 hrs her ashes were ready, this was a scam too, I got assorted animal ashes in a can for $100, but how does one prove this? They told me the ovens were on when I brought her body in.

Mrs Jacqueline Mars look up her net worth on Forbes. :cry

Banfield Pet Hospital in Chicago, Illinois - Cat had two bad teeth and they said she was fine.

I took my cat to Dr Trice at the Kingsbury location in Chicago the begining of Feb 2014. I said she meows all the time. They charged me almost $600.00 for test, they said everyting was fine with her teeth. A few days later the cat was still meowing, i lifted up her lip to see a black tooth. I took her to another vet and she had two bad teeth. I would not bring any animal to this vet. After looking on line i find many complaints about this company from all over the country. When you call to complain they just have the Dr that screw up call you back. I would suggested that you find another dr office before taking to this one.
