If it was for heart worm medication (which I'm assuming it was), they can't write a prescription for you unless your dog's heart worm test is current…just FYI. A vet could lose his license over that.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama - Cant cancel wellness plan

I needed to cancel my pet insurance since it is a waste of money, i can get cheeper service at a local vet, but i have been on the phone for FOUR DAYS, i have been placed on hold for hours at a time so i finally call the department that handles new enrollment. Of course, i get through within a minute! I explain to them my situation and the lady was so rude, just transfered me to a voicemail and now i have to call all over again. I would not recomend this service, as there customer service is vertually non-existant and you are stuck with the plan. I still havent gotten the plan cancelled and its almost been a week.

It also doesn't state that it will automatically renew but somehow they magically enroll you for another year without your consent. Next time any of you have an issue like this, ask to speak to the practice manager, and just bypass all the lower level employees.

You must insist, usually they'll give you a b.s. story about the practice manager being busy and asking you for a call back....which never happens.

Banfield sucks. Go to a private vet!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona - Over scheduling, over charging

I've been taking my dogs & cat here for 14 yrs. Each year they get worse about over-scheduling appointments. I have waited as long as three hours beyond my scheduled appointment time and never less than 45 minutes. They have no respect for customers time. There is always an average of a one hour wait after you check in. It's ridiculous. They are useless if your pet gets sick. If your pet needs surgery they tell you to go elsewhere. They also lost my dead dogs body in a freezer for 30 days. They are incompetent. For the slightest service they want you to drop your pet off at 8:00a.m & they'll call you to pick your dog up when they are done. I'm cancelling all my pets' so called "wellness plans" with Banfield. I'd warn anyone away after the experiencesI've had over the years.

Sadly I agree. I used to work as a Vet for Banfield until the beginning of the year & we were under intense pressure to say yes to every client that calls & wants to be seen everyday, even when we are already fully booked.

This means that the hospitals are ALWAYS horribly overbooked & we were NEVER on time. So then all the clients are pissed off all the time & yell at us because they have to wait for their appointments, or because they have to drop off their pet because we simply cannot squeeze anymore clients into rooms/the waiting room. If your lucky we might get to spend a whole 10 mins with you & your pet. Clearly NOT enough time if your pet is sick or injured.

It SUCKED to be a vet there. We almost never got lunch breaks & worked well over the time we are supposed to be there until every night.

Most of the other vets hate it & are looking for other jobs as well because of all the angry clients & corporate pressure to make as much money as possible/see as many pets as possible.

My English Springer puppy was spayed at our local Banfield. When an appointment for surgery is scheduled you must cancel 3 days in advance or pay a penalty.

Three days prior to surgery, my puppy had a crusty rash on its abdomen and I know from my experience in the OR that surgeons won't operate on humans with such a condition. They gave me some ointment and cleanser for her abdomen to use until surgery and told me it would be fine. It wasn't fine. After surgery, they told me they decided to put her on antibiotics and when I asked why, they said because the rash was worse than they thought.

If it was worse than they thought, why did they operate? Predictably, four days later, the wound began to drain purulent liquid. They put her on more antibiotics. After weeks of wound care she seems fine now, but what happens later in her life when she develops adhesions and bowel obstruction?

They don't care. If they were subject to malpractice litigation, I assure you they would care. They won't get another chance to injure my dog.

The worst part was, they seemed to want to make me feel guilty because it got infected. I'm sorry you found Banfield too.
