I just want to include my positive review of Banfield as a whole, as well as the Wellness plans. Human beings are 7 times more likely to post a negative review than a positive one, so I thought I'd give readers another perspective. With that said, I firmly believe that...

Sorry to hear that you found your experience to be poor. I have to say that I have been to the very same Banfield and found the staff sympathetic, caring, intelligent and there for me at my time of need when I had to put my dog of 16 years to sleep.

Medicine costs money, and you get what you pay for when you are shopping costs with quality of care. Don't take for granted that your animal can die from anesthesia during extractions, and I would want the best taking care of my animal.

Having the best, comes at a cost. I will take short cuts on many things, but medicine for myself and family is not one of them.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey - Banfield pet clinic, blah!!

I had been taking my dog to banfield for 5 years. Nothing but problems! Apparently they kept doing allergy tests and never told me the results just kept prescribing more and more medications. They never were able to fix her or tell me what was wrong with her. So I did not take her back! So after her going without vet care for 2 years I found a new vet. Took her in last Saturday they took one test. Found out what it was right away!! Now she is on the correct medication and doing well. Also, I had cancelled my wellness plan as well. I got a bill in the mail months later saying I was being sent to collections!! I called and they said they had tried contacting me many times. My number never changed! They never contacted me!! This still has not been resolved. I have spent over $5000.00 at banfield. They have signs up in the exam rooms saying they treat your pet like family. Well if this is how you treat your family, then I'm sorry. I will never be back!! They are only in business for money and could care less abouty pet.

I am totally disgusted with the service at Banfield in Mechanicsburg, PA!! I have been turned away TWICE in the past 2 1/2 to 3 months.

The first time my poor Yorkie had an eye that was pasted shut and oozing yellow pus! They wouldn't see him for a few DAYS!!! This last time was on September 11, 2016. I stopped in without my dog to ask if I could bring him over as he had two open sores right above his tail and I wasn't sure what to put on them.

I was told she just gave away the last appointment of the day. I actually pleaded with her to have the vet look at the sores...it would only take 5 minutes!! She said I can give you an appointment on September 28th?? Are you kidding me?!?

They could be infected by then!!! I guess Banfield doesn't have the same level of caring they once did. I am on the Wellness Plan, too, to top it off! I emailed Banfield for someone to contact me and, as of today (9/20/2016) no one has had the courtesy to get back to me!

Needless to say I will be contacting corporate and cancelling the plan. I have taken him to a 'qualified, experienced' vet!! The poor thing is on three medicines and a special shampoo!

An infection WAS starting as I suspected!! Bottom line...DO NOT GO TO BANFIELD!!!!!

I took my cat to Banfield for a couple of lumps. The vet couldn't find them (neither could I) at the time, probably due to stress at the time. The vet recommended I get a kitty dental only so they could try to find the lumps at the same time and do a biopsey. ...

Wow...Trish B who commented below certainly is misinformed. This is why we hate dealing with nurses, because they think they know things when they don't. Sorry, your career as a nurse doesn't even hold a candle to the MEDICAL DEGREE your vet has. Her complaint is just riddled with arrogance and ignorance.

1.) You never Gram stain a fecal. Gram stains are used to differentiate gram positive from gram negative bacteria. We KNOW there is bacteria in fecal material - this is a given. It's NORMAL for warm blooded animals to have E. coli living in their colon and be excreted in the ***. She obviously doesn't understand that a fecal FLOTATION (not smear, as a centrifuge is used to separate the less dense parasite eggs to the top of the sample) is used to test for intestinal parasites, which are very large and visible without a stain. I can just imagine what everyone thought as she demanded to look through the microscope, having no idea what she was even looking for!

2. That "Shot gun" antibiotic you are talking about is NOT a shot gun antibiotic. It lasts for 2 weeks in the system. And we give it all the time - not just as a last resort. It's a really good product and clears up many different types of infections. I don't understand how this is "unassociated" with his problem. Antibiotics are given all the time for diarrhea when no other cause is apparent, and usually they work pretty well. i also don't understand why you are complaining because you, the knowledgeable nurse you claim to be, even KNEW it was a bacterial infection because "one lick" gave you gastritis (lol).

3. We don't recommend fluids for every case of diarrhea. If your pet didn't appear dehydrated, then this would be a waste of your money. Of course, with dehydrated pets with diarrhea, this would be warranted. Do you need fluids every time you have the runs?

4. They don't gown and glove with no masks on. Come on.

5. I'd kick you out too. You seem like a real Debbie-downer who wants to complain about everything. You have a "high quality show breeder baby" Chihuahua, but was taken to a low cost Spay and Neuter clinic? Hmmm...That seems odd. It's got to be someone else's fault he has diarrhea, right?

I currently use a Banfield in Southern Connecticut and I am extremely happy with the service I receive there! The wellness plan is great, the vet is great and so is the team of people there.

Sometimes I think people just want to blame someone else for something bad happening to their dog. It happens sometimes and just like going to a doctor, nothing is perfect.

I've been misdiagnosed by MD's numerous times! Give these people some credit!

I do read all contracts before signing.. I don't expected them to give me anything..

the store I took her too is the problem.. I should have never sat there for 2 hours each time I went .. that's insane.. I wanted them to prove they did the services they claimed to have done.

In which they couldn't when the manager returned my call .. all she could say was they hired a new vet and he was taking long with everyone. If you hire someone new you should explain to your client it may take longer than usual. I also talked with another vet and they agreed the dewormer was most likely the reason she vomited all night..

banfield said there was no way it was the dewormer. I was willing to pay for the uti and xray if needed but not for an exam that I wasn't witness to.

I still will take her for vaccines but I will not take her if she's sick bc I don't feel comfortable there. I should have never switched vets.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Santa Rosa, California - Banfield is after your money No concern for your pet

Went to Banfield in Rohnert Park, Ca inside of Petsmart to have my cat checked out due to him having fleas, his allergy to Frontline in addition to a possible flea allergy. Was inside the treatment room for over two hours, while this incompetent vet who appeared to not know much about cats and who was unkempt and disorganized herself consulted in another room with another vet or office manager while I was left to wait with my cat. The ***'t kept telling me to wait another few minutes when I said I was going to leave numerous times. The vet never came back into the treatment room. ***'t came in with a very expensive (over $400) treatment plan that was not only unnecessary but would have harmed my cat which I declined to do. I agree with the other upset pet owners that have posted their complaints. Not the place to take your animal for anything. Go somewhere else, preferably with a vet that has been referred to you who is reputable and competent.
