Banfield Pet Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona - Puppy Insurance

Going to tell my friends, family, associates not to buy a Banfield insurance plan because they refused to stop the plan after my dog passed away. My dog passed 1 month after the plan renewed, so 11 months x 47.50 a month. Banfield has had steady payments for 14 years from me on this plan, don't you think they made their money.

Negligence at Banfield Pet Hospital Took Our Dog Life
Friday February 1 2019. My wife and I dropped off our two schnauzers for a routine teeth cleaning. Banfield Pet Hospital had been seeing our dogs with routine check ups for more than 5 years. Our oldest schnauzer of 9 years was in for her last visit. On November 5th...

I’m very sorry for your loss. Schnaus are the best little dogs.

I wanted to note ‘routine teeth cleaning’ is a misnomer.

No anesthesia is routine, and it should never be treated as such. Even healthy animals (including humans) can die from general anesthesia.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Killed my ferret
My ferret went in to get his teeth cleaned and a tooth pulled, and never came out. The Doctor kept saying it was because of his age. It was because that was the first ferret he ever did. Dr. Pearson, if you need to know. In Tempe, Az. on Elliot and Hardy in the...

did you really just legitimately call out a veterinarian (someone who has toiled away for 10+ years just to even get started doing what they are passionate about!) then, take into consideration the average salary for an associate veterinarian starting out in GP and compare that number to the average student debt at this same instant. it is plain as day that veterinarians are almost exclusively a profession that is the opposite of "doing it for the money, power trip, because they are greedy and self-serving, insert whatever horrible trait you want to place here"!

i am offended by your lack of touch with reality, to be honest; and a bit frightened for and/or of you.

if you truly think any veterinarian would go forward with a surgical procedure they didn't feel comfortable and confident enough attempting, then you really don't understand the heart&soul of veterinary medicine.

ALSO: dig a bit deeper for knowledge re: ferrets. chances are a not so little operation called marshall farms is directly involved in your ferret's history. when you selectively breed the heck out of any species of animal (especially to the extent necessary for good clinical research trial candidates, as was the case with marshall farms) unfortunately more often than not ugly recessive traits and strange heritable genetic mutations begin showing up more frequently. way more frequently.

sorry, but it's the sad and bitter truth, and it has nothing to do with your ferret's vet.

six is honestly a mid-to-long life for a domestic ferret, to be honest. one last time: tell off marshall farms, don't slander the *** out of a doctor's "soul work" and calling.

I currently have 3 pets on the Banfield Wellness Plan. I had an additional pet, a stray that I took in. I added him to our plan, an additional $39.95/mo, because I believed that he was going to be a part of our family. We could not keep him, and after 9 months of...

The wellness plan is NOT insurance.

If you cancel, for whatever reason, before the year is up they have you pay either the remainder of the months you owe or the services you've already used (at cost), whichever is cheaper.

I USED to work there.

They are not charging for services you haven't used.

I'll break it down.

Say you are on the plan that includes the dental cleaning. You've used multiple office visits, the dental cleaning, vaccines, comprehensive exam etc.

Prices without the plan (depending on where you live) Office visits- $49.95 per office visit. Dental cleaning under anesthesia - $300 Vaccines- range between $18- $30 per vaccine Felv/fiv testing- $45 Deworming- $15- $20 Comprehensive exam- $250 Bloodwork- $250 Urinalysis- $60 Plus your 15% discount on anything not included. So if you've used all that, then you've used over $800 worth of services.

The total plan cost for the year is around $400- $500 So again, they aren't charging for services you haven't used. You've used over $800 worth of services and you want to cancel and not have to pay. How is that fair? They deserve to be paid for the services that they have done.

& again, it's not insurance it's a preventive care plan. If you sign a 2yr cellphone contract and cancel before the 2yrs is up, they charge a cancellation fee.

Hope that makes sense.

You already get a discount with your wellness plan.

It's their price. Yes, you can call around and probably get it cheaper.

The price they gave was also probably just an estimate because you get a discount on the plan.

At banfield it isn't just the euthanasia. An IV catheter is placed, sedation prior to the solution is given, the actual euthanasia solution and that also includes the price of the remains.

Not all places do an IV catheter. Which is terrible because then they are fishing for a vein which they may or may not hit the first time.

Then, alot of places don't give a sedative.

When you give a sedative the pet goes to sleep and doesn't feel anything. If you don't give a sedative through the IV first, the pet does feel everything.

You obviously knew it would automatically renew on July 1st, since you said you would come in BEFORE that date.

Well you obviously didn't go in before the renewal date like you said you were going to, since it was automatically renewed on July 1st.

So with that part, you have no right to complain.

The staff in the actual hospitals cannot cancel the plan or set it not to renew.

Only corporate can do that.

The cancellation policy is if you cancel before the year is up, you either pay the remainder of the months you owe, or the services you've already used (at cost), whichever is CHEAPER.

As for you sending the check. Maybe they didn't receive the check? I would definitely call them. They should be able to explain.

All you can do at this point is just pay the collection agency.

It does not effect your credit until it's been in collections for a certain amount of time (I believe it's 90 days or something like that). I don't work at Banfield anymore, but I did for years.

If you read the contract you signed then you would see that it clearly states the plan renews each year.

The reason being is to avoid having people have to pay the membership fee again, and also because pets heed ongoing care not just a years worth.

I feel your frustration. I just left Banfield and had a very similar experience. I get 100 different quotes every time I take one of my dogs in and honestly it's caused riffs between my hubby and I. I look like an ***. I'm definitely shopping for a new provider to care...

There are times that things cost extra (anywhere really with or without preventative plans) that is just part of having a pet. However, I completely agree with you on the whole "if you love your dog you'd do it" thing.

I will say I do work at a Banfield, not in Arizona, and that is completely unacceptable! I do not blame you at all for being upset about being talked to like that.
