Boomer was outside running around like normal. When I called him to come inside, he was on our back deck, which is about 5 inches off of the ground. As he stepped down, he yelped and hopped a few steps. Right away, I noticed something was not right with him. He...

I believe you. The vet hurried you out the door, and the others dismissed your concerns.

Some people here are heartless or work for that soulless company. I hope you adopted another dog, and if not, do so. So many need homes.

One day, your Boomer will be waiting for you on the other side. Happy, healthy and in no more pain.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida - Banfield Vet Hospital Trinity FL. Don't go there

I took my dog to Banfield Trinity FL 3 days ago for a rash on her belly. She has had all her shots and vaccines etc. Took all her papers to Banfield. They gave her a shot for her rash and a few pills. They charged $385.00 when they told me it would only be $100.00. As I checked out they asked me to sign up for Optima animal wellness care insurance and I would have 4 days to cancel I called to cancel in 3 days and they would not allow me to cancel unless I paid them $285.00. What a rip off and customer service was of no help. I rescued the dog from the SPCA in NPR. FL and it had all the shots etc., so Banfield really did nothing but a shot and some pill but they charged me for things they didn't do or give me. Don't go to Banfield in Trinity FL/ Wish I would have read the reviews first.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida - Benefield Animal Hospital, Brandon Fl.

I purchased an animal wellness policy in April and received good service, until my dog died in October on a weekend.I was truley heartbroken! She past away suddenly on a weekend eve and they were closed so I took her to the pound for disposal. Monday morning I went to inform them of her passing, thinking that they would be sympathetic and consoling. Instead I was told that I still owed the balance of the contract! WHAT A CRUEL AND INSENSITIVE THING TO SAY! My credit report says I am delinquent; I am going to sue! I beleive it to be the only way to get satisfaction. I asked the lady would she continue to pay health insurance if someone in her family died? Her response was, sir, did you not read the contract? It was not airtight and had no provision for a death declaration dismissal. At that time I had the authorization of disposalwith me. I intended to give to them but was totally upset. It has been a few years but I will be vigilante. So beware of this business it is not good.

Why does ANYONE continue to go to any Banfield Pet facility? Doesn't one horror story after another tell you anything?

Isn't it amazing that this business is able to attract consistently inept, rude, and often cruel employees?

Put them out of business! STOP TAKING YOUR BELOVED PETS to this sorry excuse for a 'hospital'.

To the person grieving the loss of their Chihuahua.

If a pet has heart failure (which it sounds like this one did from the brief Hx of pulmonary edema, murmur etc)them the treatments they gave sound medically appropriate. Any treatment, especially in advance heart disease carries some risk, but the certainty of death from doing nothing makes it a justified risk in many cases. Again, just like in people no pet reacts exactly the same to each medication so you pet may have had an unexpected poor reaction to the drugs they gave. Again though, both of these drugs are commonly used in pets with heart disease. It sounds like the vets were trying to start with basic stabilization but that it was not sufficient/your pet reacted unusually & required further, more advance care was needed but that this was beyond what you could afford. Unfortunatly just like in people heart disease requires extensive & expensive work-up so if you could not even afford stabilization of your pet how on earth do you think you would have been able to afford proper long-term care and monitoring (echocardiograms, consultations with cardiologists, expensive daily medications etc etc). The sad readily is most likely you would not be able to do any of this.

In cases where an owner cannot afford appropriate care or even to initially stabilize the pet the euthanizing it to prevent the pet suffering further is very very common.

I understand you are probably in shock at the sudden loss of your pet but it is pathetic to try & blame the people who were trying to help within the parameters of what your finances would allow them to do. If you had no/poor credit then you couldn't expect any vet to treat her for free. Vets are a business just like any other & almost no vets take 'payment plans' anymore because too many people lie & say they will pay them back then can't/won't so the Vets end up loosing money/not being able to pay employees/for medications & equipment/rent etc. In the end it was a combination of your pets underlying medical condition & your financial situation that determined the sad outcome. Come to terms with this & you will be a less bitter person.

Back in 2007, I paid for their Well Care plan for my dog, Lewis, mainly because I wanted to cover his surgery to have him neutered. The cost of the surgery wasn't COMPLETELY covered, as they TOLD me when I signed up...I actually was going to have to pay approx. $90...

Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida - Over-vaccination death

In 2006, my 4-year-old Italian Greyhound died after being over-vaccinated at Banfield. They have since changed their vaccination recommendations so they at least are trying now. I still didn't like that I couldn't be with my pets when they took blood or did other procedures (where I could be with them with other vets) so I cancelled my protection plan for my new pets. Banfield might be a decent vet for someone who can't afford anything better. They are more expensive than the "traveling vets" but less than a really good one. You usually get what you pay for. How much are your babies worth?

Joey31776- We appreciate your feedback, please remember that our Wellness Plans are preventative service including head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more. Since they are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply.

As far as pricing, just like human health care, pet health care can appear to be more costly for certain situations, tests or procedures such as surgery. This is due to the medical measures we have in place to ensure the safety of every pet we treat, such as pre-anesthetic blood work, which is required prior to any surgical procedure. Banfield strives to be competitively priced in the marketplace.

You'll find that many of the most popular veterinary products and services are less expensive at Banfield than at other veterinarians. At Banfield we enjoy hearing feedback from our clients, so to address any other specific concerns, and to help us improve our overall service, we would appreciate it if you would call our Client Advocate Team at 877-500-2288, thank you.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida - *** complaints from *** people

To those who are complaning below... The Wellness Plans are not insurance. They only include what is considered preventative care. Preventative care on Wellness Plans include vaccinations (only 1 of each type per year), 1 set of routine bloodwork per yr, and various other things. They are not meant to be insurance and do not cover sick visits. They help with sick visits in that they include the office visits and give discounts on sick visits. Also, to one of the complaints below... It is malpractice to routinely offer antibiotics to every pet after surgery. A routine spay/neuter or tumor removal absolutely does NOT need antibiotics. It is a different story if there is alreay evidence of an infection being present. Of course if there is evidence of an infection being present then antibiotics are warranted. Otherwise, it is malpractice. Here are other common *** complaints from *** consumers: If your pet has an allergic reaction to a vaccination or heartworm injection, that is not anyone's fault. Nothing was done incorrectly. Is it anyone's fault if you have an allergic reaction to a bee sting and end up in the hospital because of it? Why should the doctor have to pay for something where no malpractice was committed? It makes no sense. If you decide to cancel your Wellness Plan but use $300 worth of services on Day #1 of the Wellness Plan (vaccines, heartworm test, fecal exam, bloodwork, office visit, etc) and only pay $80 toward the monthly payments before you decide to cancel, why should you be allowed to cancel your Wellness Plan without paying the difference? You are ripping off Banfield by doing this. Think about it people. Also, when you come in as a walk-in and your pet is not an emergency and then you refuse to drop-off your pet and the hospital is busy, how can you expect that you won't be waiting hours to see a doctor? What is wrong with people? Any company as big as Banfield will have numerous complaints on websites. You can't please everyone. The only reason that your neighorhood non-Banfield vet does not have as many complaints online is because they are only 1 facility in 1 town. Of course, every business will have occasional complaints. Now, multiply this by 800 hospitals in the country!

my family and I had to bring in my pet ferret . to be put down.this was our first visit two benefield pet hospital.

my normal vetnarian could not work us in . with such a short notice. benefield normally does not take ferrets, but the office in cincinnati ohio was extremely understanding ,they work with us on the time, and how much time it took to complete this painful process. every single one of their staff was extremely compassionate to my family and I.

one of the biggest surprises was that they took time out of the day to write a sympathy card to my family which was a big deal to my sons, and made them feel like the vet love bud too . I would love to take my pets back to benefield but they have no vet for them unfortunately.

Just a little fyi: I had my cat on the Wellness Plan in Jacksonville, FL. I was given a call and told that my cat a an allergic reaction to her vaccines but she was ok.

It has now been years later and I'm an employee of Banfield - I looked at her records and found out my cat was given a canine vaccine.

And that is why she had an allergic reaction. Unfortunately many of the horror stories about Banfield are true.
