Pet Hospital billed us for anesthesia and overcharged for other services not approved before a teeth cleaning procedure. Our dog needed a small incisor extraction, anesthesia was supposed to be covered by our Wellness Plan if done at the same time as the teeth cleaning, verbally confirmed prior to the procedure by the front desk and standard procedure for Banfield clinics nationwide. Upon pick up of our pet we were told we owed $300 and that anesthesia was not covered, that additional X-rays were required to make sure they got all of the tooth. The office could not produce these post-op X-rays when I asked to see them.
They also billed us for a vaccination booster that was covered by our plan AND vaccinated our dog on the day of surgery after specifically forbade it. The billing department has since tried to say that the initial shot was covered but not the booster, and that anesthesia is NEVER included for extractions, even in tandem with Wellness Plans.
We've since called and recorded 10 other Banfield clinics in Ohio as well as their corporate number who confirms that they do not charge for Anesthesia, and usually X-rays aren't needed at all.
