I took my 4 year old dog in for the 1st time for an annual checkup and heart worm meds. It cost me nearly $500 for that.

My dog didn't even get any shots. I got the hard sell for their pet insurance. A tech did everything. I saw a vet for maybe 60 seconds at the end because I was clearly not happy.

Went in the next day to cancel the insurance and they charged me almost $500--the cost of the services I got without the insurance. Most of these services were not even mentioned to me at the time--full blood workup, full urine analysis--so I had no chance to say I didn't want these things. And boy, are they slick at making you feel like a terrible pet owner.

And very good at justifying their actions. I feel like a total *** Don't make the same mistake I did.
