On Sunday I found out my dog had fleas, so I decided to contact Banfield pet hospital. After speaking with the manager he recommended First Shield Trio to get rid of the fleas which worked for 30 days. After giving this product to my dog it was downhill from there. My...

My afghan hound has never had a reaction to any type of flea control on the market. When I gave her Trio, she almost knawed her skin off and chewed herself for weeks.

Both times it was administered, during two completely different periods in time, she had the same wickedly severe skin inflammation and only on her ribs. I had to stop giving it and put her back in Frontline plus.

AVOID BANFIELD AT ALL COST. Their incompetence cost my dog his life. Our story: My dog has been on the Banfield Wellness plan for over 10 years. Back in 2008, he had a problem with an obstruction in his digestive system that Banfield failed to diagnose. After spending...

Preferred solution
Not only do I want a full refund for not only the emergency "care" we received, but for my 10-year investment in the Wellness Plan. But more importantly, I want Banfield to change its branding that positions it as a full-service veterinary hospital.

Positive Experience Review

I've used Banfield exclusively for all my animals for many years and have NEVER had anything but great care!

Banfield Pet Hospital in Houston, Texas - Poor service

We took our new rescue yorkie to Banfield three days ago. She was diagnosed with heart worms and we were advised that treatment would be well over $1200. We decided to seek a second opinion and received a $700 estimate for the same service. The vet at the second clinic was much more competent than the vet at Banfield. It seemed like all they wanted was our money, rather than proper treatment of our new pet. We were given a prescription to fill by our new vet. We took it back to Banfield to have it filled and they would not fill it since they weren't the writer of the prescription.

Update by user Oct 17, 2015

It has been a few years since her passing. Whether she had an underlying condition or not, I still will not take any other animals here due to the amount of reported claims from other pet owners.

Banfield could be just getting a bad rap. The only thing I was happy...

Dear Friend,

Dec 8, and I am in the process of filing a grievance with the State Veterinary Medical Board.

My kitty, 17, had her teeth cleaned and a bad tooth removed.

Unbeknownst to me, the doctor failed to give her antibiotic following the procedure: I thought nothing of it at the time, because in 10 years, I never had a problem with this.

Her health declined due to infection. Not one in four doctors ever bothered to review her July 8 procedure to see if there was a connection: not 1 in 4! So, they all play by the same, "cover their a" playbook so as to avoid the appearance of negligence.

It is how they avoid liable: never admit anything, and obfuscate the truth and lead the people on to something else, even if it means making it up.

So, in 3 days, the 4th doctor finds a mysterious development of lobes of ? Exactly: they had no clue and convinced me to test her would kill her. And, I knew they would kill her just to keep us quiet.

Instead, they convinced me she was not worth saving at her age, and "lovingly" helped me make the decision to put her down.

Lady, she was suffering, not dying, but at the time, I believed them and was unaware of the lack of antibiotic. If you have all your paperwork, get a professional to write a grievance: there is a process which I am pursuing at this time. Granted, these are politicians and they will likely not do anything, however, they will send these doctors a copy of the complaint and they will know, I will not shut up if something has been done unethically to an animal: they must pay.

This is one way. Another, tell all your friends to really be careful when having their pet's teeth done, and always do not trust your vet 100 percent: get 2 or 3 opinions before you ever put your family member down. Do not waste money on seeking problems out. Best to take them out of town; do not get second and third opinions in town, as these people are more than likely good friends.

Since when do we put animals down for suffering, not dying? There was not one of 4 docs that told me, "she is dying". Her vitals were all strong, but she was not worth saving, nor admitting a mistake was made, let's get that antibiotic in her and see if her body could right itself.... Pain?

Guilt? Yes. I live with it too. These people, will also live with it even in my quiet desperation.

God Bless you.

My kitty resides right next to my bed for as long as I live.....Justice will continue to be sought, even if only in prayer. Salisbury, NC

The Banfield vets here in Georgetown, Texas, are wonderful to our three doggies. Two males are much older and always are treated with great care and good judgement.

Our younger female is also treated well. We love Drs.

O'Hair and Williams! :)

On May 26 I took my cat of 12 yrs old for a routine exam that included a dental prophylaxis (cleaning), which was done. The cat received 2.6 ml of propofol for anhestesia. Then after the cat came from the anesthesia the Vet. gave her NSAID and Opioid. When she came out...

Hello, I am so sorry for the loss of your pet. I took mine to Banfield because they were the only ones with an available appointment.

They charged me a lot for x-rays and they said to take him to the emergency room since they didn't have the equipment there. WTF? Why didn't they just tell me that in the first place so I wouldn't waste time and money with them? And then they were rude to me at the front counter when I checked out.

When I paid the bill the *** at the counter just turned and walked away without giving me my receipt. Then another nasty *** at counter was rude to me when I was crying because my cat was sick. No empathy, no compassion, no words to me. Just ignored me.

Then the other *** came out and I asked her where is my receipt and she coldly said, "I thought you were gone." My cat died right there in the carrier I was holding. I didn't know it until I drove 5 minutes onto the highway. Then I called Banfield back and was treated horribly by another stupid rude woman in the front counter. These people are only about money.

NO EMPATHY, NO COMPASSION, NO BEDSIDE MANNER, VERY RUDE AND MY CAT DIED WHEN HE COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED IF THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO THE ER FIRST.

Horrible unethical people working there. They are cold, rude, and evil and I am so sick to my stomach knowing my cat died in the carrier at Banfield when they treated me so rudely, and were cold to me at the same time.

Banfield Pet Hospital(Point Loma) only cares about profits not pets!
I took my 4 year old English Bulldog to Banfield yesterday (6/9/12) for emergency treatment. My dog was walking around in my backyard as she always does when she started to sneeze uncontrollably. When I was trying to comfort her to find out what happen I noticed her...

They ripped me off telling me I was buying pet insurance for my dogs for $56 a month. I never needed it until 2 weeks ago ..

My dog needed surgery on his leg And stitches in 3 places. Suddenly the insurance I've been paying for 8 months covered nothing but shots!!! Really I just paid over $400 for shots for 2 dogs.

It's ridiculous!!

St Louis Banfield is all about the money too!! Beyond irritated.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Houston, Texas - Banfield Poor Service-Missouri City, TX

I attempted to pick up Heartworm medication for my Corgi on two occasions. First, the employee was talking on the phone and did not acknowledge my presence. After 8 minutes, I left. Came back today and stood at the counter for more than 5 minutes and finally asked someone to go in the back and get help. The person wanted to argue that my dog had not been there since 2009. I explained that she had been coming there for 4 years and was last seen 2 weeks ago. Clearly she thought that I was wrong. I left. Went to the Sugar Land Banfield, got the meds and was told that the MC store probably spelled my dog's name as Dutchess instead of Duchess (the correct spelling). The MC location sucks.
