Banfield Pet Hospital - Review in Pet Medicine and Veterinary Clinics category from Bellevue, Washington

NEVER GO HERE! Went to one in ft Wayne for my new kitten. He said he had eye infection prescribed a salve and oral antibiotics. 67.00 for the salve that is 10.00 to 18.00 every where else and the oral was triple the standard cost. The most horrible thing is the salve may have blinded him. His eyes were red and became bulging! Called them and they said just keep giving it to him! We did two more applications called them again said his eyes look horrible and they said stop the oral and continue the salve. I said there is no way we are going to continue it! They said to give him Benadryl. Double the amount his little kitten body could take!! We then took him to a vet hospital and was told he NEVER had any infection and was having a severe reaction to the salve and could become blind!! Also they over dosed the oral antibiotic by DOUBLE! He said the price they charged for those meds were WAY OVER PRICED! They also said they get many animals that have been at ban field and are over dosed and have problems. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!! I'm horrified what they have done to our new kitten!!!!

Worst Hospital EVER! I have the "special care" plan, which I purchased at Banfield.

I called the Silverdale WA Banfield and explained my dog hurt her leg either jumping off a bed or possibly a stroke. The woman told me I could not bring my dog in because they were a wel...

Silverdale tried the same thing with us, and told us they couldn't see our dog, because they had no available appointments. We showed up with our dog anyway, and they had no choice but to see her. Now I don't even call anymore; I just show up and get the services that we pay for.

Did the person you talked to at Banfield, let the vet know? Was it the vet themselves who said it's fine?

I would make an appt for both cats to be examined and go from there. You should also call the first shield manufacturer and let them know.

Did you apply first shield trio to your dog? If you did, then it's possible that some of the dog one got on the cats.

Whether your cats rubbed against the dog, or if they laid in the spot your dog did before his/her prevention dried completely, it can get on them (if this is a possibility, seek vet treatment asap)

Which is extremely dangerous. Not just first shield, but any topical flea medication for dogs, is harmful to cats.

There's also a difference in the products. First shield is for cats, first shield trio is for dogs.

As I said, with any brand of topical dog flea prevention, it's extremely important that none, not even a tiny drop, gets on a cat. It can cause serious issues and can even be fatal.

When people have both cats and dogs, I suggest getting an oral flea prevention for the dog.

For cats, the only thing I use on them is Revolution. It's more expensive since it's for fleas and heartworm (not labeled for ticks. But covers the American dog tick off label ) and it's a prescription product only because of the heartworm prevention in it. You can only get it at a vet office and only if that vet has seen your pet.

Nobody here can tell you for sure what to do. I'm sure there's going to be comments saying how bad firstshield is. But the truth is, just because a pet has a reaction, doesn't mean it's a bad product. A pet can have a reaction to anything, even something natural.

There are horror stories about every prevention. I worked at banfield for 6yrs. I'm no longer there but when I was, I saw maybe 2 reactions to firstshield. Neither was terrible.

The location I was at actually didn't have the cat one in stock, because my two vets preferred revolution for the kitties.

Hope your kitties are okay. Please let me know what happens

I love seeing a review like this. People are always so quick to post bad reviews on places but don't take the time to make good ones.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

I'm sure he/she loved you very much. I'm happy that you and your pets were treated with dignity, as it should always be that way

Banfield Pet Hospital - Dr. Carman Ames in Kennewick Washington found that closing at 6pm more important than saving puppy's life!

What? Your post's states they (Banfield) called my daughter and asked if she wanted her dog to DIE because it was almost 6pm?

Your post is missing relevant information as to what was wrong with the dog in the first place PRIOR to the phone call from Banfield to your daughter.

Another words, your post makes no sense whatsoever.

Your comment makes it sound as if Banfield was going to put the dog down if the dog wasn't picked up by 6pm closing time. You need to fully clarify your comment information.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness Plan Review

Our pet was prescribed the wrong medicine which eventually led to the loss of our pet. The vet took no responsibility for her error. Now over $1600.00, no pet, we still have to pay the difference for our wellness plan. We will never set foot in any Banfield or Petsmart again!

I am very sorry this happened to you too. When I looked into why my cat died, I found that the vital signs of the pet are not being closely monitored.

There is one individual who is responsible for both the teeth cleaning and monitoring the pet. If that person is busy cleaning, or in my case left the room to call me about a newly discovered cavity, they are not watching the patient. The vet who was assigned to my pet said the equipment slipped off...evidently it was not noticed so my cat was not receiving oxygen and died.

This lack of concern or failure to adequately staff the procedure rooms when a pet is under anesthesia is a huge flaw in their system. Evidently not enough animals are losing their lives to warrant adding additional staff.
